The event lineup included the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly, and 100 breaststroke, the women&#8217;s 100 freestyle, and the men&#8217;s 500 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Marlins of Raleigh earned three individual first-place finishes and one relay gold during the course of the evening, with <strong>Grace Countie<\/strong> taking the 100-yard freestyle, <strong>Abigail Arens<\/strong> taking the 100-yard breaststroke, and <strong>Zachary Brown<\/strong> topping the 200-yard butterfly. Arens, Countie, <strong>Madison Homovich<\/strong>, and <strong>Ashley McCauley<\/strong> combined for relay gold in the women&#8217;s 200-yard medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Academy Bullets swim team, led by 200 back runner-up\u00a0<strong>Spencer Walker<\/strong>, placed first in the men&#8217;s 200-yard medley relay.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Backstroke<\/h3>\n<p>Gator Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Caitlin Brooks<\/strong> maintained the top spot in the women&#8217;s 200-yard backstroke by 0.03, battling it out with 15-year-old<strong> Isabelle Stadden<\/strong> of Aquajets Swim Team. Brooks took the title in 1:52.01 to second-place Stadden&#8217;s 1:52.04.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to Nation&#8217;s Capital&#8217;s <strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> in 1:52.84. <strong>Madison Homovich<\/strong>, winner of the 1000-yard freestyle last night, took the fourth-place spot with a time of 1:54.15. <strong>Kaitlyn Schoof<\/strong> of Elmbrook Swim Club&#8217;s time of 1:56.46 was good for fifth place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meghan Lee<\/strong> of Eagle Swim Team, who came into the meet as the 12th seed, took sixth place in 1:56.88, followed by <strong>Mariana Kraus<\/strong> of Delta Aquatics in 1:57.36 in seventh place. <strong>Sophie Housey<\/strong> of Grosse Pointe Gators rounded out the championship heat in 1:58.28 for eighth place.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 200y Back A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vsGSWPirzeM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Backstroke<\/h3>\n<p>Aquajets&#8217; <strong>Jack Dahlgren<\/strong>\u00a0and Academy Bullets&#8217; <strong>Spencer Walker<\/strong> unseated top seed <strong>Jack Dolan<\/strong> of Rockwood Swim Club in the men&#8217;s 200-yard backstroke, nabbing the gold and silver, respectively. Dahlgren, a Mizzou commit, touched in 1:42.45 for first place, followed by Walker in 1:43.36. Dolan was third in 1:43.42, about a half second off of his seed time. He swam at Columbia Speedo Sectionals as recently as Sunday, hitting 48.04 in the 100 back.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to <strong>Peter Larson<\/strong> of Edina Swim Club in 1:43.51, followed by <strong>Sean Conway<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital in 1:43.54 for fifth place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Daly<\/strong> of Condors Swim Team, who came in as the 20th seed, catapulted up to sixth place with a time of 1:45.51, a three-second drop. <strong>John Healy<\/strong> of Marlins of Raleigh stopped the clock in 1:45.92 in seventh place, while Aggie Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Peter Simmons<\/strong> touched in 1:46.27 for eighth.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 200y Back A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-8C_Gl7oMfQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Marlins of Raleigh swim team continued their strong performance, as UNC-bound <strong>Grace Countie<\/strong> took home the title in the women&#8217;s 100-yard freestyle with a swift 48.88. The rest of the heat was tightly packed, with Scottsdale Aquatic Club&#8217;s <strong>Ashley Strouse<\/strong> nabbing silver with a time of 49.24, almost a full two-second drop from her seed time and an incredible 43-place improvement from the psych sheet. <strong>Kaitlyn Schorr<\/strong> of Southwest Stars grabbed third place by a hair with her time of 49.33.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to Huntsville Swim Association&#8217;s <strong>Rebekah Hamilton<\/strong> in 49.35, while <strong>Christiana Regenauer<\/strong> of Condors Swim Club&#8217;s time of 49.44 was good for fifth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talia Bates<\/strong> of Gator Swim Club sprinted to a sixth-place time of 49.57, followed by <strong>Katelyn Mack<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital in seventh with a 49.97. The silver went to <strong>Andrew Matejka<\/strong> of Gator Swim Club in 4:21.65 (a eight-and-a-half-second drop from his psych sheet time), followed by <strong>Ryan Vipavetz<\/strong> in 4:22.45 for the bronze.<\/p>\n<p>Gator Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Julian Hill<\/strong> touched fourth in 4:22.82, followed by Saint Edwards Aquatic Club&#8217;s <strong>Coleman Kramer<\/strong> in 4:23.85 for fifth place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew Tannenberger<\/strong> of Swim Streamline&#8217;s time of 4:24.13 was good for sixth, while Walker stepped up for his second event in a row to finish in seventh with a time of 4:25.31.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bennett McDade<\/strong> of Badger Aquatics Club rounded out the top eight swimmers with a 4:25.84.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 500y Free A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RyR9wl-AuwY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p>Marlins of Raleigh notched another first-place finish with <strong>Abigail Arens<\/strong>&#8216; time of 1:00.01. Her prelims time of 1:00.00 was also just off the minute barrier, but still over half a second faster than her psych sheet seed time of 1:00.66. Second place went to <strong>Kylie Powers<\/strong> of Swim Houston Aquatic Club in 1:00.40, followed by <strong>Anna Keating<\/strong> of Machine Aquatics in 1:00.58 for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Claire Grover<\/strong> fell from second seed after prelims to fourth place with a time of 1:00.98, while <strong>Ashley McCauley<\/strong> of Marlins of Raleigh touched in 1:01.01 for fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Sixth place went to <strong>Hannah Bach<\/strong> in 1:01.31 for sixth, followed by <strong>Jordan Morgan<\/strong> of Santa Clara Swim Club in 1:01.46 for seventh. Bacon was next in 1:02.16.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 100y Breast A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sXTbCdV7NTc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Eli Fouts<\/strong> of Rockville Montgomery Swim Club won the men&#8217;s 100-yard breaststroke in 53.56, followed closely by second-place<strong> Charles Scheinfeld<\/strong> of New Trier Aquatics in 53.63. Notably missing was <strong>Reece Whitley<\/strong>, who has competed at this meet for the past two years and whose best time of 51.84 would have won the event by a good margin. With their swims, however, Fouts and Scheinfeld punched their tickets to the annual NCSA Junior National Team.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to <strong>Casey Storch<\/strong> of Machine Aquatics in 54.12, followed closely by <strong>William Mhyre<\/strong> of Saint Charles Swim Team in 54.13 for fourth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Izaak Bastian<\/strong> of Saint Andrew&#8217;s put up a fifth-place mark of 54.21, while <strong>Jason Louser<\/strong> of Long Island Aquatic Club finished sixth in 55.08.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Chang<\/strong> of Long Island Express nabbed seventh place in 55.13, and <strong>Caleb Carlson<\/strong> of Academy Bullets rounded out the final eight with his time of 56.25.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 100y Breast A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-mMkhmqkRw8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h3>\n<p>15-year-old <strong>Grace Sheble<\/strong> out of Nova of Virginia won the women&#8217;s 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.82. There was a tight battle for the silver medal between <strong>Caroline Cooper<\/strong> of Highlander Aquatics and <strong>Abigail Harter<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital, with Cooper coming out on top by 0.01 to secure the place on the NCSA Junior National Team. Cooper touched in 1:56.03, followed by Harter in 1:56.04.<\/p>\n<p>Harter&#8217;s teammate <strong>Isabella Gati<\/strong> touched in 1:56.87 for fourth place, followed by Homovich in 1:58.15 for fifth. This was Homovich&#8217;s third top eight finish in three events.<\/p>\n<p>Klinker took sixth place with a 1:58.29, while\u00a0<strong>Sydney Harrington<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital placed seventh in 2:00.54. Madej touched in 1:46.04, followed by <strong>Dylan Eichberg<\/strong> of Stingrays Swim Team in 1:46.13 for the bronze.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to Nation&#8217;s Capital <strong>Darren Durocher<\/strong>, who touched in 1:46.52. <strong>Timothy Marski<\/strong> of Long Island Aquatic Club&#8217;s mark of 1:46.60 was good for fifth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Edgemond<\/strong> of Machine (1:46.82),<strong> Hugh Robey<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital (1:48.29), and Dahlgren (1:49.20) finished in sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 200y Fly A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OEDDHwIqySA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Marlins of Raleigh team of Homovich, McCauley, Arens, and Countie finished first in the women&#8217;s 200-yard medley in a time of 1:39.96, with Countie splitting a 21.62 on the freestyle leg.<\/p>\n<p>Bacon, <strong>Abigail Harter<\/strong>, <strong>Jasmine Hellmer<\/strong>, and <strong>Katelyn Mack<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital finished close behind in second place with a time of 1:40.09.<\/p>\n<p>Third place went to Aquajets Swim Team, as Stadden, <strong>Jordyn Wentzel<\/strong>, <strong>Madison Potter<\/strong>, and <strong>Abigail Kapeller<\/strong> combined for a time of 1:40.18.<\/p>\n<p>Academy Bullets (1:41.67), Scottsdale Aquatic Club (1:41.78), Gator Swim Club (1:42.10), Delta Aquatics (1:42.63), and Arlington Aquatic Club (1:42.70) also placed in the top eight for the relay event.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>Academy Bullets Swim Club and Saint Charles Swim Team overtook Nation&#8217;s Capital A and B teams, which were seeded 1-2 in the event, to nab the gold and silver in the men&#8217;s 200-yard medley relay. Academy&#8217;s team of Walker, <strong>Caleb Carlson<\/strong>, <strong>Horace Qiao<\/strong>, and <strong>William Kamps<\/strong> stopped the clock in 1:29.26 for the gold, while <strong>Mitchell Milosch<\/strong>, Mhyre, <strong>Frank Niziolek<\/strong>, and <strong>Matthew Nagler\u00a0<\/strong>of Saint Charles combined for a second-place time of 1:30.59.<\/p>\n<p>Nation&#8217;s Capital A-team of <strong>Steven Thalblum<\/strong>, <strong>Kyle Barker<\/strong>, Durocher, and <strong>Brandon Hamblin<\/strong>\u00a0finished third with a time of 1:30.93, with Hamblin splitting a 19.40 on the anchor leg.<\/p>\n<p>Nation&#8217;s Capital B-team (1:31.68), Marlins of Raleigh (1:31.83), Aquajets Swim Team (1:32.04), Alamo Area Aquatic Association (1:32.09), and Rockville Montgomery Swim Club (1:32.11) rounded out the top eight relay finishers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2018 NCSA Junior National meet continued this evening in Orlando, Florida.
