As the 2018 Division II NCAA men’s and women’s swimming and diving competition got underway this morning, several athletes decided to put themselves within striking distance of NCAA Division II records right off the bat.<\/p>\n
Wingate’s Alexis Divelbiss<\/strong> took the lane four position in the women’s 200 IM by posting a 2:00.34 ahead of Drury’s duo of Bailee Nunn<\/strong> (2:00.60) and Zuzanna<\/strong> Chwadeczko<\/strong> (2:01.15). Posting the fourth and fifth fastest times of the morning was CSU East Bay’s Morgan McClure<\/strong> (2:01.24) and\u00a0Shippensburg’s Stephanie O’Toole<\/strong> (2:01.38). Also competing in tonight’s A final will be Nova’s Courtney Deveny<\/strong> (2:01.87), Queen’s junior Josephina Lorda<\/strong> (2:02.12) and her sophomore teammate Georgia DaCruz<\/strong> (2:02.19).<\/p>\n The B final will be lead by Queens senior Mckenzie Stevens<\/strong> who posted a 2:02.29 this morning.<\/p>\n Queens junior Marius Kusch<\/strong> handily took the top spot leading into tonight’s A final by blowing away his prelim heat in a time of 1:42.68. Kusch’s senior teammate Nicholas Arakelian<\/strong> was behind in 1:45.18. NMU’s Ryan Leonard<\/strong> swam a 1:45.92 ahead of Florida Southern’s go-to guy Matthew Holmes<\/strong> who posted a 1:46.52. Indy’s Rodrigo<\/strong> Codo<\/strong> Berti took fifth place in 1:47.21 with Fresno’s Aleksei Averchenko<\/strong> swimming a 1:47.47. Queens senior Inigo Alarcia<\/strong> (1:48.03) and Drury freshman Pavel Semochkin<\/strong> (1:48.21) will round out tonight’s A final.<\/p>\n Cal Bapist’s Eric Tolman<\/strong> will lead the B final by virtue of his 1:48.37 he swam in the heats.<\/p>\nMen’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n
