Changing the format from the past, the night began with the 1000 free, followed by the addition of the 100 IM. The night wrapped up with the 4&#215;200 free relays.<\/p>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 1000 Free<\/h1>\n<p>Georgia commit\u00a0<strong>Madison Homovich<\/strong> of Marlins of Raleigh took the first women&#8217;s event of the 2018 NCSA Junior Nationals, winning the 1000 free in 9:33.63. Scottsdale&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ashley Strouse<\/strong> dropped an impressive 9:40.58 to take second.<\/p>\n<p>13 year old\u00a0<strong>Claire Tuggle\u00a0<\/strong>of Clovis, who set multiple National Age Group records at this meet last year as a 12 year old, finished third in 9:43.88.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 1000y Free A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R0eEqxmIIXg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 1000 Free<\/h1>\n<p>Local swimmer and Louisville commit\u00a0<strong>Hayden Curley<\/strong> of Highlanders won the men&#8217;s 1000 free, swimming to a time of 9:01.94. Curley was followed by Rockville Montgomery&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Vipavetz<\/strong> in a time of 9:05.09 for second.\u00a0<strong>Andrew Matejka<\/strong> of Bowling Green placed third in 9:08.43.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 1000y Free A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D94Nm1srDBs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 100 IM<\/h1>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 100 IM,\u00a0Aquajets&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Isabelle Stadden<\/strong> was the lone swimmer to dip under 55 seconds. Stadden claimed first place with her time of 54.81.\u00a0<strong>Grace Countie<\/strong> of Marlins of Raleigh was second in 55.16. Countie just out touched her teammate,\u00a0<strong>Abigail Arens<\/strong>, who came in third in 55.19.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to Arlington Aquatics&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Victoria Huske<\/strong> in 55.31.\u00a0<strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital followed close behind for fifth in 55.32.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sophie Skinner\u00a0<\/strong>of the Norther KY Clippers placed sixth in 55.41, while NOVA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grace Sheble<\/strong> was seventh in 55.42.\u00a0<strong>Valerie Tarazi\u00a0<\/strong>of the Mundelein Mustangs rounded out the top eight in 55.70.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 100y IM A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tPS3ab_SYJg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 100 IM<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Steven Thalblum\u00a0<\/strong>of Nation&#8217;s Capital broke the 50 second barrier to win the men&#8217;s 100 IM. His winning time was 49.93. Second place went to\u00a0<strong>William Myhre<\/strong> of St. Charles in 50.21.<\/p>\n<p>Two Nation&#8217;s Capital teammates,\u00a0<strong>Sean Conway<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Darren Durocher<\/strong>, tied for third in 50.28. Just behind them was another one of their teammates,\u00a0<strong>Kyle Barker<\/strong>, was fifth in 50.29.<\/p>\n<p>There was another tie for sixth place between Rockville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eli Fouts<\/strong> and Machine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Casey Storch<\/strong> in 50.32.\u00a0<strong>David Madej<\/strong> of SwimStrongsville was eighth in 50.50.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 100y IM A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VVPeJa2Zgpg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h1>Women&#8217;s 4&#215;200 Free Relay<\/h1>\n<p>Nation&#8217;s Capital&#8217;s relay of\u00a0<strong>Sinead Eksteen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.69),\u00a0<strong>Madeline Laporte<\/strong> (1:48.16),\u00a0<strong>Isabella Gati\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.36), and\u00a0<strong>Katelyn Mack<\/strong> (1:48.38) claimed the women&#8217;s 4&#215;200 free relay in 7:14.59. Second place went to the team of\u00a0 Countie<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.08),\u00a0 Arens (1:49.49),\u00a0Homovich (1:47.15), and\u00a0<strong>Adrianna Cera<\/strong> (1:51.07) from Marlins of Raleigh in 7:15.07. The NOVA of Virginia relay of\u00a0Grace Sheble (1:47.02),\u00a0<strong>Megan Pulley<\/strong> (1:50.14),\u00a0<strong>Sydney Whiting<\/strong> (1:48.96), and<strong> Caroline Sheble<\/strong> (1:50.41) finished third in 7:16.53.<\/p>\n<h1>Men&#8217;s 4&#215;200 Free Relay<\/h1>\n<p>First place in the men&#8217;s 4&#215;200 free relay went to the Academy Bullets team of\u00a0<strong>Spencer Walker<\/strong> (1:38.62),\u00a0<strong>William Kamps<\/strong> (1:39.02),\u00a0<strong>William Raidt<\/strong> (1:38.37), and\u00a0<strong>Horace Qiao<\/strong> (1:39.44) in 6:35.45. New Trier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charles Scheinfeld<\/strong> (1:38.48),\u00a0<strong>Ean Vandergraaf\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.24),\u00a0<strong>Patrick Gridley<\/strong> (1:39.40), and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Gridley\u00a0<\/strong>(1:37.20) finished second in 6:36.32.
