Day three of the Speedo Sectionals Championship Series were today in Plantation, Fla. Heading into the final day of competition, South Florida Aquatics leads the combined team scores with 895 points, followed by Azura Florida (862), Gator Swim Club (837.5), East Coast Aquatic Club (628) and Bolles (591.5).<\/p>\n

Fourteen-year-old Claire Timson <\/strong>of Falfins Swimming powered her way to a win in the women\u2019s 100 back to begin day three finals, stopping the clock in 1:04.52. Bolles\u2019 Mary Kelly <\/strong>finished second in 1:05.21. and Daytona Beach\u2019s Micayla Cronk <\/strong>was third in 1:05.27.<\/p>\n Twelve-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte <\/strong>won his third event of the meet, taking first in the men\u2019s 100 back with a time of 56.38. Corey Main<\/strong>, who is swimming unattached, was second in 56.66 and Gator Swim Club\u2019s Mason Wilby <\/strong>finished third in 58.35.<\/p>\n After winning the women\u2019s 100 breast last night, Mercedes Toledo <\/strong>was again victorious in the 50 breast after touching the wall in 32.96. Second place went to East Coast Aquatics\u2019 Chade Nersicio <\/strong>(33.99) and third went to Peddie\u2019s Alexandra McDaid <\/strong>(34.01).<\/p>\n The men\u2019s 50 breast victory went to Pipeline\u2019s Jared Pike <\/strong>who got his hands to the wall in 29.23. Jack Szaranek <\/strong>(29.90) and Coral Springs\u2019 Harvey Beckwith <\/strong>(30.88) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n Not too long after finishing second in the women\u2019s 100 breast, Nersicio found herself on top of the podium in the 50 fly after posting a final time of 27.55. Makos Aquatics\u2019 Alena Kraus <\/strong>finished second in 28.24. and Planet Swims\u2019s Kathryn Saurborn <\/strong>was a close third in 28.25.<\/p>\n Andrii Govorov <\/strong>sprinted to first in the men\u2019s 50 fly with a quick 23.47. He was followed by Performance Aquatics\u2019 Runar Borgen <\/strong>(25.22) in second and Azura Florida\u2019s Edson Lima <\/strong>(25.69) in third.<\/p>\n Future Cal Bear Isabel Ivey <\/strong>of Gator Swim Club cruised to first in the women\u2019s 200 IM, winning gold with a time of 2:16.77. South Florida\u2019s Kathleen Golding <\/strong>grabbed the silver in 2:18.73 and Swim Florida\u2019s Olivia McMurray <\/strong>took bronze in 2:20.75.<\/p>\n After winning the 400 IM last night, Florida commit Miguel Cancel <\/strong>also earned the victory in the men\u2019s 200 IM with a final time of 2:01.12. Pine Crest\u2019s Patrick Groters <\/strong>was second in 2:10.20 and Treasure Coast\u2019s William McCloud <\/strong>swam to third in 2:10.95.<\/p>\n Pipeline\u2019s Chloe Grimme <\/strong>dropped four-tenths from her entry time to win the women\u2019s 50 free in 26.20. Cronk followed her in 26.47 for second and Ivey was third in 26.51.<\/p>\n Brazilian Olympian Bruno Fratus <\/strong>swam a time of 22.27 to get his hand to the wall first in the men\u2019s 50 free. Govorov was second in 22.43 and Azura Florida\u2019s Luis Flores <\/strong>took third in 23.41.<\/p>\n AquaKids Sharks\u2019 Mary Smutny<\/strong>, who will swim for Texas this fall, dropped nearly ten seconds from her prelims time to win the women\u2019s 400 free in 4:18.37. McMurray finished second in 4:19.41 and third went to Georgia Marris <\/strong>in 4:19.63.<\/p>\n Gator Swim Club\u2019s Mitch D\u2019Arrigo <\/strong>won a close men\u2019s 400 free battle in 3:59.18, just out-touching Lochte\u2019s 3:59.21.
