Peaty was the only swimmer in the field under 1:00, dominating his heat with a 58.78 ahead of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/guy-wins-50-fly-wilby-stuns-in-200-breast-at-british-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200 breast champion\u00a0<\/span><b>James Wilby<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:00.05). Team England\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-peaty-headlines-englands-2018-commonwealth-games-roster\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">officially named Peaty to their Commonwealth Games roster back in October<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and with just five weeks to go before the 2018 Games the 23-year old looks to be in a position to defend his 100 breaststroke title from 2014. While Cal\u2019s depth was a key to them winning the meet, <\/span><b>Andrew Seliskar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was a standout for the Golden Bears. The junior set a Pac-12 Championship meet record to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pac-12-mens-championships-day-4-finals-live-recap\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">win the 200 breast (1:51.30)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pac-12-mens-championships-day-3-live-recap\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">400 IM (3:38.65)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while also finishing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pac-12-mens-championship-day-2-finals-live-recap\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">second in the 200 IM (1:41.85)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Also setting a meet record for Cal was sophomore <\/span><b>Zheng Quah<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who set a championship record in the 200 butterfly (1:40.24). Cal\u2019s <\/span><b>Nick Norman <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kicked off the final night of the meet by winning the 1650 free (14:39.77), becoming the first Cal swimmer to win a title in that event in school history. Blackmun was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few weeks ago and is citing health problems as the impetus for his resignation. Blackmun was not able to attend the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. However, the USOC is also conducting an independent review of Blackburn\u2019s response to sexual misconduct cases related to USA Gymnastics and USA Swimming and whether the responses in question were appropriate. There were calls leading up to the Olympics calling for Blackmun\u2019s resignation.\u00a0<\/span><b>Susanne Lyons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a current member of the USOC board, will serve as interim USOC CEO. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were plenty of stars on hand at the lastest stop of the TYR Pro Series Meet in Atlanta, with international and national swimmers creating some dramatic matchups at the Georgia Tech pool.\u00a0<\/span><b>Taylor Ruck\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was one of the standouts from a very impressive field, posting the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/taylor-ruck-blasts-2018-world-best-206-36-in-200-back-in-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fastest time in the world in the 200 back (2:06.36)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/taylor-ruck-out-touches-sarah-sjostrom-in-100-free-at-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taking down world record holder\u00a0<\/span><b>Sarah Sjostrom<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the 100 free, winning\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/taylor-ruck-sneaks-past-olivia-smoliga-for-100-back-victory-in-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the 100 back by just .01<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and adding a win in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/taylor-ruck-leads-teenage-domination-of-200-free-in-atlanta\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the 200 free<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0for good measure. Also impressive was the pro group from Texas, who shaved and tapered for this meet and were pretty dominant throughout the meet. Several records fell over the four days of the meet,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swimming-australia-announces-commonwealth-games-roster\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with 70 athletes ultimately earning a berth to represent their country on their home turf<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. A standout for the Aussies was Olympic gold medalist\u00a0<\/span><b>Cate Campbell<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who after taking a year away from competition following a disappointing 2016 Olympics was stellar.
