During the Saturday morning prelims session at the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Atlanta, Texas-trained\u00a0Andrew Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>threw down a 59.19 in the men’s 100 breast to finish well ahead of a powerful field heading into the final. The 100 breast was one of 10 events in the session.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Fly<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>moved\u00a0ahead of Cardinal’s\u00a0Kelsi Dahlia\u00a0<\/strong>on the third 50 in the final heat of the 200 fly, and Flickinger pulled away from there. She touched in 2:09.47 to qualify first for the final by three seconds.<\/p>\n

Dahlia took second in 2:12.47, followed by Arilson Silva’s\u00a0Liliana Szilagy\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.95) and\u00a0Trojan Swim Club’s Haley Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.77). Other finalists included Enfinity’s\u00a0Olivia Carter\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.14), Magnolia’s\u00a0Lillie Nordmann\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.32), Makos’\u00a0Alena Kraus\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.52) and Team Elite’s\u00a0Sarah Gibson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.01).<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Fly<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Nation’s Capital’s\u00a0Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>has already posted wins in the 100 fly and 200 free in Atlanta, and he posted by far the best prelims time in the 200 fly at 1:57.60. He finished almost 2.5 seconds ahead of Athens Bulldog teammates\u00a0Chase Kalisz<\/strong> (2:00.09) and\u00a0Pace Clark\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.90).<\/p>\n
HPC-Victoria’s\u00a0Mack Darragh\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth in 2:00.96, and others qualifying for the A-final included Scarlet’s\u00a0Dare Rose\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.21), Longhorn’s\u00a0Tripp Cooper\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.54), Cal’s\u00a0Tom Shields\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.24) and\u00a0Antonio Nunez\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.38).<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Breast<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Tennessee Aquatics’\u00a0Molly Hannis\u00a0<\/strong>blasted a 1:06.43 for the top seed in the 100 breast prelims, finishing more than a second ahead of Olympic silver medalist\u00a0Yulia Efimova<\/strong>. The Russian qualified second in 1:07.46, and third went to China’s\u00a0Yu Jingyao\u00a0<\/strong>at 1:08.43.<\/p>\n
Just behind her were New York Athletic Club’s\u00a0Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.45) and China’s\u00a0Shi Jinglin<\/strong>, followed by a tie between Chattahoochee Gold’s\u00a0Micah Sumreall\u00a0<\/strong>ad South Florida’s\u00a0Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>at 1:08.70. Eighth went to HPC-Victoria’s\u00a0Faith Knelson<\/strong> in 1:08.72.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Breast<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Longhorn’s\u00a0Andrew Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>threw down a time of 59.19 to lead the 100 breast prelims, beating his own personal best of 59.51. But while Wilson is clearly hitting his stride this weekend, the field for the final should be one of the meet’s most competitive.<\/p>\n
Cal’s\u00a0Josh Prenot\u00a0<\/strong>qualified second in 1:00.59, and Sandpipers of Nevada’s\u00a0Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 1:01.00. Race Pace Club’s\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong>, the 50 free winner Friday night took fourth in 1:01.11, just ahead of Tiger Elite Racing’s\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.27).<\/p>\n
Longhorn’s\u00a0Will Licon\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.45), Tiger Elite’s\u00a0Felipe Lima\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.46) and Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Nic Fink\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.55) also got into the top eight.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Back<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Athens Bulldog’s Olivia Smoliga <\/strong>posted a quick time of 1:00.26 for the top seed in the women’s 100 back prelims, but she will be challenged in the final by Canadian teenager Taylor Ruck<\/strong>. Ruck, representing HPC-Ontario has already posted stellar swims in the 100 free, 200 back and 200 free in Atlanta (all wins), and she qualified second in this race in 1:00.36.<\/p>\n
Italy’s Federica Pellegrini <\/strong>(1:00.61) and Wolfpack Elite’s Alexia Zevnik<\/strong> (1:00.98) also broke 1:01, and they were followed by Canadians Kayla Sanchez <\/strong>(1:01.02) and Jade Hannah <\/strong>(1:01.04). Michigan’s Ali DeLoof <\/strong>(1:01.31) and Italy’s Carlotta Zofkova <\/strong>(1:01.37) claimed the outside lanes for the final.<\/p>\n

Ryosuke Irie <\/strong>of Team Elite and Japan qualified first in 54.33, well ahead of UBC Thunderbirds\u2019 Markus Thormeyer <\/strong>(55.17). U.S. Olympians Jacob Pebley <\/strong>(55.21) and Ryan Murphy <\/strong>(55.60) cruised into the final in third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n
Tiger Elite\u2019s Shane Ryan <\/strong>(56.01) and Missouri State\u2019s Paul Le <\/strong>(56.02) were next, and the Italian duo of Luca Spinazzola <\/strong>(56.26) and Simone Sabbioni <\/strong>(56.67) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

Following the 100 back, HPC-Ontario\u2019s Taylor Ruck <\/strong>qualified first in another event, posting a 2:04.14 in the 200 IM. Her teammate Kayla Sanchez <\/strong>took second in 2:14.53, and Longhorn\u2019s Madisyn Cox <\/strong>took third in 2:15.35.<\/p>\n
UBC Thunderbirds\u2019 Erika Seltenreich<\/strong> took fourth in 2:15.54, and a fourth Canadian, Rebecca Smith<\/strong>, took fifth in 2:16.77. Also making the final were Argentina\u2019s Virginia Bardach <\/strong>(2:18.76), Enfinity\u2019s Olivia Carter <\/strong>(2:19.06) and UBC Thunderbirds\u2019 Hillary Metcalfe <\/strong>(2:19.48).<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Chase Kalisz\u00a0<\/strong>out-dueled Race Pace Club’s\u00a0Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>in the final heat of 200 IM to qualify first for the final. Kalisz, after dominating the 400 IM Friday night in 4:08.92, touched in 2:02.38, ahead of Andrew’s 2:02.83.<\/p>\n
The final will be Kalisz’s second of the day, as he also qualified second for the 200 fly final. Andrew, along with third qualifier\u00a0Josh Prenot\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.34) and fifth qualifier\u00a0Will Licon\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.88), will swim in both the 100 breast and 200 IM finals.<\/p>\n
HPC-Victoria’s\u00a0Mack Darragh\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth in 2:03.41, with Missouri State’s\u00a0Uvis Kalnins\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.92), Simklubben’s\u00a0Simon Sjodin\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.93) and Dynamo’s\u00a0Raunak Khosla<\/strong> (2:04.78) also making the final.<\/p>\n
