Olympic gold medalist <\/span><b>Mack Horton <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was just behind him in 3:49.59, while <\/span><b>Jack McLoughlin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">joined them as the only other qualifier under 3:50 with a 3:49.86. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Women 100 Breast Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">26-year old <\/span><b>Leiston Pickett <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was the top qualifier out of this morning\u2019s heats with a 1:07.55, the only time under 1:08 in the prelims. Pickett is the defending Commonwealth Games gold medalist in the 50 breaststroke from 2010 and 2014. In second is <\/span><b>Jessica Hansen <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:08.24), followed by <\/span><b>Georgia Bohl <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:08.48) and <\/span><b>Taylor McKeown <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:08.72), who is already on the team after her win in the 200 breaststroke last night. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Women 50 Fly Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sprint star <\/span><b>Cate Campbell <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had a nice rebound from missing the finals of the women\u2019s 200 free yesterday, setting a new Australian record in the heats of the 50 fly (25.47) to emerge as the top seed by more than a second heading into tonight. The second Australian into finals is the 200 fly runner-up <\/span><b>Madeline Groves <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(26.72), while <\/span><b>Emily Seebohm <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is heading into finals third (26.83). <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Men 50 Fly Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b>Brayden McCarthy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was the top qualifier out of the mornings heats with a 23.73, just .03 off of his top-ranked seed time of 23.70. Just behind him in second was <\/span><b>Cameron Jones <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(23.78), with <\/span><b>William Yang <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(23.84) the only other qualifier under 24 seconds this morning. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Men 100 Breast Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">23-year old <\/span><b>Jake Packard <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was the only qualifier under a minute this morning, leading all qualifiers with a 59.57 in the heats. <\/span><b>Matthew Wilson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the 200 breaststroke champion<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from last night, was second out of the heats in 1:00.20, while <\/span><b>Liam Hunter <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was just behind him in 1:00.39.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Women 100 Free S9 Para Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Top seed <\/span><b>Ellie Cole <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">led all swimmers out of the morning heats with a 1:04.52, less than two seconds off of her Australian record of 1:02.69. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Women 100 Free Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Olympic medalist <\/span><b>Cate Campbell <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">took her second top seed of the morning in what is arguably her best event. The oldest Campbell sister was out smooth in 25.59 and came back in 27.63 to take the middle lane for tonight\u2019s finals with a 53.22. Just behind her was younger sister <\/span><b>Bronte Campbell <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 53.98, the only other qualifier under 54 seconds. <\/span><b>Emma McKeon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the second place finisher last night in the 200 free, was third through the heats in 54.33.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Women 400 Free Prelims<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last night\u2019s 200 freestyle champion <\/span><b>Ariarne Titmus <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was the top seed out of this morning in the 400 free, swimming a relaxed 4:08.35 to comfortably take the top seed. Titmus set the Australian record in this event (4:02.86) back in November and is the favorite going into tonight\u2019s finals. Closest to her is Olympic silver medalist <\/span><b>Jessica Ashwood <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:10.22).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Men 100 Free Prelims<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australian record holder and top seed <\/span><b>Cameron McEvoy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be the top seed going into tonight\u2019s finals, posting a quick 48.64 out of prelims. Going into finals in second with a huge swim will be <\/span><b>Clyde Lewis <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 48.84, more than a second drop from his seed time of 49.83. <\/span><b>James Magnussen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who has been on the road to recovery since shoulder surgery, will enter finals as the third seed (48.90), while defending Olympic gold medalist <\/span><b>Kyle Chalmers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">just snuck into the finals tied for seventh in 49.14. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some of the biggest names in Australian swimming are competing at the 2018 Australian Trials for a chance on the Commonwealth Games team.
