THE first day of swimming, and second day overall, at the National Association of Interscholastic Athletics Championships featured a heavy rewrite of the organizations record books. Meanwhile, Fresno Pacific&#039;s Cheyenne Coffman was a part of three NAIA records, including twice lowering an individual mark. <\/p>\n<p>In the team title race, the Fresno Pacific women led by a wide margin with 263 points. Oklahoma Baptist stood second with 196 points, while Concordia (119), SCAD (117) and Azusa Pacific (108) finished third through fifth.<\/p>\n<p>The Oklahoma Baptist men held a slim 249-244 lead over Fresno Pacific. Concordia (194), SCAD (115) and Illinois Tech (106) rounded out the top five. <\/p>\n<p>Fresno Pacific&#039;s Cheyenne Coffman twice lowered her own NAIA record in the women&#039;s 50 free. During prelims, she raced to a 22.50, downing her 2010 effort of 22.90. She then won the splash-and-dash in 22.29 during the night. Union&#039;s Renata Cabral placed second in 23.53, while SCAD&#039;s Catherine Duquet finished third in 23.58. <\/p>\n<p><b>Video of Coffman&#039;s 50 free win<\/b><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LDVnt0vi4yM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After nearly beating the NAIA record during prelims with a 19.93, FPU&#039;s Marko Tanasovki posted a 20.01 to win the men&#039;s 50 free. Russell Thompson&#039;s 19.90 from 2007 remained standing. Ivan Maciuniak and Mateo Macuniak of OBU tied for second with matching 20.43s. <\/p>\n<p>Fresno Pacific&#039;s Cheyenne Coffman, Lauren Malthaner, Kendall Swanson and Katelyn Brown joined a trio of schools to break the NAIA record in the women&#039;s 200 medley relay.  The Sunbirds clocked in at 1:41.40, bettering the 1:44.30 set by SCAD last year. SCAD took second in 1:43.18, while Oklahoma Baptist finished third in 1:43.82.<\/p>\n<p>FPU&#039;s Guy Kosov, Marko Tanasovski, Damien Bernard and Paul-Bernard Marie-Rose clipped the NAIA standard in the men&#039;s 200 medley relay with a 1:28.76.  That swim eclipsed the 1:28.90 clocked by Fresno Pacific a year ago.  SCAD (1:31.49) and Concordia (1:32.03) placed second and third. <\/p>\n<p>OBU&#039;s Nicole Wilson captured the women&#039;s 500 freestyle title in 4:56.90, while FPU&#039;s Brooke Turner also cleared 5:00 with a second-place 4:59.64. Concordia&#039;s Alex Peters earned third in 5:02.56. <\/p>\n<p>SCAD&#039;s Alex Graudins picked off the third NAIA record of the night by bettering his own mark in the men&#039;s 500 free. Graudins charted a 4:24.63, under his 2011 standard of 4:25.32. FPU&#039;s Bobby Yribarren (4:29.51) and Dan Wilson (4:31.48) earned second and third.<\/p>\n<p>FPU&#039;s Stacy Carter (2:05.04) and Kendall Swanson (2:05.47) went 1-2 in the women&#039;s 200 IM. Brenau&#039;s Hannah Boudreaux snared third in 2:06.41. FPU&#039;s Jordan Litz tracked down the men&#039;s 200 IM title in 1:49.35. OBU&#039;s Nick Schuttinger (1:49.85) and Gilles Cantrelle (1:51.27) completed the podium.<\/p>\n<p>FPU&#039;s Cheyenne Coffman, Brooke Turner, Sofie Gjemmestad and Stacy Carter captured the women&#039;s 800 free relay in an NAIA record of 7:26.93. That crushed the 7:33.75 set by Cal Baptist back in 2011. OBU finished second in 7:31.32 under the old record, while Concordia placed third in 7:41.64. <\/p>\n<p>OBU&#039;s Javier Sossa, Gilles Cantrelle, Andrew Nelson and Nick Schuttinger edged the NAIA record in the men&#039;s 800 free relay with a 6:39.17. That swim erased the 6:39.60 set by Fresno Pacific in 2011. Concordia took second in 6:42.80, while FPU picked up third in 6:45.31. <\/p>\n<p>In diving, Illinois Tech&#039;s Ian McNair won the men&#039;s one-meter with 326.85 points.
