{"id":298453,"date":"2018-02-28T10:05:22","date_gmt":"2018-02-28T17:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=298453"},"modified":"2018-02-28T07:17:58","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T14:17:58","slug":"spain-netherlands-victorious-in-fina-european-prelims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/spain-netherlands-victorious-in-fina-european-prelims\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain, Netherlands Victorious in FINA World League European Prelims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spain and the Netherlands respectively won their round 4 game last night (February 27) in Khanty-Mansiysk (RUS) and Budapest (HUN), two of the cities hosting the European prelims of the FINA Women&#8217;s Water Polo World League.<\/p>\n<p>Starting the game on a high, Spain defeated the Russians 9-7 (3-0, 3-4, 2-2, 1-1), who defended fiercely until the end.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands proved too strong for the Hungarian team, as the Dutch scored 10 times against 5 for their opponents (2-1, 4-2, 3-1, 1-1).<\/p>\n<h3>European Prelims Provisional Ranking:<\/h3>\n<p>1. ESP 9 pts, 2. NED 6 pts; 3. HUN 6 pts ; 4. RUS 3 pts<\/p>\n<p>The fifth round of the Women&#8217;s World League will be played on March 27. The Dutch will play the Russians, while Spain will face Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s European prelims resumes on March 20.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Natation (FINA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Natation, founded in 1908, is the governing body for aquatics worldwide. FINA&#8217;s five discipline Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Synchronised Swimming &#8211; are all included in the Olympic programme. High Diving made its first appearance in FINA events at the 2013 FINA World Championships.
