Lexington Catholic was second with 229 points. On the girls side Sacred Heart Academy won their 29th state championship, breaking the state points record with 520.5 points. North Oldham High School was second with 198 points.<\/p>\n<h3>Boys<\/h3>\n<p>St. Xavier swept the relays.\u00a0<strong>Will Cole<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Connor Kang<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Aldan Johnston<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Michael Eastman\u00a0<\/strong>broke the school&#8217;s own school record in the 200 medley relay, finishing in 1:30.17. Lexington Catholic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Menke<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Strother<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zach Hils<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Scott Scanlon\u00a0<\/strong>were also under the old mark, finishing second in 1:30.71.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier swept the top three spots in the 200 freestyle with Johnston (1:35.76), Cole (1:38.61), and Eastman (1:40.16). Johnston&#8217;s time was a new state record, under his own 1:36.89 from 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Another state record fell in the 200 IM when Lexington Catholic&#8217;s Hils swam a 1:46.83, exactly two seconds faster than he went last year. St. Xavier&#8217;s Kang was second in 1:51.89. Hils won the 100 butterfly in 48.93. Eastman also cleared 50 (49.88).<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in Kentucky High School swimming, the 20 second barrier was broken. North Oldham&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>William Tarvest\u00a0<\/strong>raced to a 19.94 for the state record. Trinity&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hunter Tapp\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up (20.40). Tapp then earned a 100 freestyle state record, stopping the clock in 43.99, faster than his own 44.65 swum last year. Tarvest was also under the old mark, finishing in 44.16.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier&#8217;s Johnston raced to a 4:25.31 500 freestyle. Henry Clay&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Street\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up in 4:31.48.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier claimed the 200 freestyle relay in 1:25.11 with the team of\u00a0<strong>Holden Smith<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dominic Tomchek<\/strong>, Kang, and\u00a0<strong>Andrew Streater<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Lexington Catholic&#8217;s\u00a0Menke led three boys under 50 in the 100 backstroke with his 48.90. Cole was second in 49.09 while Scott Co&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaleb Brannock\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 49.88.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Brehm<\/strong>, a Collegiate freshman, topped the 100 breaststroke in 56.38. His senior teammate\u00a0<strong>Grayson Schroer\u00a0<\/strong>finished runner up in 57.22.<\/p>\n<p>One more state record fell in the 400 freestyle relay as St. Xavier&#8217;s Eastman, Cole, Streater, and Johnston stopped the clock in 3:00.31.<\/p>\n<h3>Girls<\/h3>\n<p>Sacred Heart swept the relays.\u00a0<strong>Annabel Crush<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ellie Masterson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Emily Lenihan<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Tonner DeBeer\u00a0<\/strong>combined for a 1:43.08 200 medley relay, nearly a second ahead of Collegiate&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Krista Wheeler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kaylee Wheeler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Meredith Schulten<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Isabell Carrico<\/strong> in 1:43.93.<\/p>\n<p>Tates Creek&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rachel Klinker\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 freestyle with a 1:46.05. Also under 1:50 was Notre Dame&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sophie Skinner\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:49.17. Skinner, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/virginia-gets-verbal-commit-from-kentucky-state-record-holder-sophie-skinner\/\" target=\"_blank\">a Virginia commit<\/a>, won the 100 freestyle with a 50.06. Greenwod&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maggie Gholston\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 51.24 and Sacred Heart&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary McAtee\u00a0<\/strong>tied Ballard&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Hixenbaugh\u00a0<\/strong>for third as the duo touched in 51.98.<\/p>\n<p>Klinker won the 500 freestyle with a 4:49.77 ahead of Dixie Heights&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Kenady Beil\u00a0<\/strong>in 4:51.97 and North Oldham&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Morgan Miller\u00a0<\/strong>(4:56.03).<\/p>\n<p>Sacred Heart&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Claire Donan\u00a0<\/strong>broke two minutes in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:59.63. Her freshman teammate Crush was in second with a 2:00.19. Manual&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zorry Mason\u00a0<\/strong>finished third (2:01.53). Crush also won the 100 backstroke (52.90) while\u00a0Krista Wheeler (53.33) earned silver.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gabriela Albiero<\/strong>, a sophomore at Christian Academy of Louisville won the 50 freestyle in 22.64, breaking her own state record of 22.80. DeBeer was runner up (23.27) and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Gholston<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the podium in 23.39. Albiero also topped the 100 butterfly with her 53.04. Dixie Heights senior\u00a0<strong>Mallory Beil\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 53.32 while DeBeer touched third (54.35).<\/p>\n<p>McAtee, Donan,\u00a0<strong>Karson Dickinson<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Allison Bauer\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 200 freestyle relay for Sacred Heart in 1:34.84.<\/p>\n<p>Scott senior\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Fox\u00a0<\/strong>won one meter diving with a score of 450.40. Kaylee Wheelre edged Donan 1:00.64 to 1:00.88 for the 100 breaststroke title.
