{"id":297953,"date":"2018-02-24T18:36:19","date_gmt":"2018-02-25T01:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=297953"},"modified":"2018-02-24T18:54:18","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T01:54:18","slug":"nc-state-men-cap-off-acc-title-with-american-record-in-4x100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nc-state-men-cap-off-acc-title-with-american-record-in-4x100\/","title":{"rendered":"NC State Men Cap Off ACC Title with American Record in 4&#215;100 Free Relay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NC State Wolfpack finished off their dominant effort at the ACC championships in Greensboro, N.C., with an American record in the men&#8217;s 4&#215;100 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming with a full beard, <strong>Ryan Held\u00a0<\/strong>led off in 41.45, just off his ACC title-winning time of 41.45 from earlier in the night, before\u00a0<strong>Justin Ress\u00a0<\/strong>split an amazing 40.87 on the second leg.\u00a0<strong>Jacob Molaceck\u00a0<\/strong>(41.71) and\u00a0<strong>Coleman Stewart\u00a0<\/strong>(41.66) brought the team home to a final time of 2:45.69.<\/p>\n<p>That annihilated the previous American record of 2:47.02 that the Texas foursome of\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Feigen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ricky Berens<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Peter Jameson<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>David Walters\u00a0<\/strong>set back in 2009. The Wolfpack recorded the second-fastest relay in history, behind only the 2:45.39 set by Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Brett Ringgold<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Joseph Schooling\u00a0<\/strong>at last year&#8217;s NCAA championships.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the team crushed its conferene record of 2:46.81 that a team which included Held set back in 2016 on the way to an NCAA title.<\/p>\n<p>NC State won the race by more than five seconds, as Florida State&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Emir Muratovic<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Felipe\u00a0Ribeiro de Souzlipe<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Will Pisani\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Kanoa Kaleoaloha<\/strong> took second in 2:50.63.
