NC State senior\u00a0<strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> was named swimmer of the meet for the second straight year after winning three individual events. Held also led his team to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nc-state-men-cap-off-acc-title-with-american-record-in-4x100\/\" target=\"_blank\">an American record in the final event, the 400 free relay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Full team standings:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<pre>  1. University of Miami (Florida)      94<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2018-mens-acc-championships-day-four-finals-day-4\/ncaa-college\/2018\/February\/21\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Full results<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>1650 Free<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Anton Ipsen\u00a0<\/strong>finished behind Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marcelo Acosta\u00a0<\/strong>in the 1650 free at the 2017 ACC championships, but he returned to the top of the podium this year, pulling away from Acosta and holding off a late charge from Notre Dame&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zach Yeadon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Ipsen touched in 14:31.21, his third win of the meet after winning the 500 free and 400 IM earlier. He broke Acosta&#8217;s ACC record of 14:33.68 and moved to No. 1 in the country this season. Yeadon finished second in 14:34.60, the No. 2 time nationally behind Ipsen.<\/p>\n<p>Acosta touched third in 14:41.21, well ahead of the Virginia duo of\u00a0<strong>Brendan Casey\u00a0<\/strong>(14:50.41) and\u00a0<strong>Sam Magnan\u00a0<\/strong>(14:54.56). Magnan tied with NC State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eric Knowles\u00a0<\/strong>for fifth, while Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>T.C. Stewart touched in 1:39.56, while Whitacre took second in 1:40.31. Stuart, who led for the first 100 yards, faded to third in 1:40.82.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Robby Giller\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth in 1:41.11.followed by Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nikkos Sofianidis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.86) and Notre Dame&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zach Montesi\u00a0<\/strong>(1:41.95). Olympic gold medalist<strong> Ryan Held\u00a0<\/strong>finished first in 41.41, the <del>second<\/del> third-fastest mark in the country this season behind\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>(40.87). (Later in the evening, Texas&#8217; <strong>Tate Jackson\u00a0<\/strong>moved passed Held in the national rankings with his time of 41.27 at the Big 12 championships.)\u00a0Held also broke his own meet record of 41.61 set last year<\/p>\n<p><strong>Justin Ress\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 41.86, just ahead of\u00a0<strong>Jacob Molacek\u00a0<\/strong>(41.89), times that rank\u00a0sixth and seventh\u00a0in the country this season, respectively. Wolfpack freshman\u00a0<strong>Giovanni Izzo<\/strong> claimed fourth in 42.69 to complete the dominance performance. Somov touched in 1:53.05, ahead of Pumputis in 1:53.45. But Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicolas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>stormed home and got his hands on the wall in front. Albiero won the race in 1:41.08, while Vazaios tied with Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ted Schubert\u00a0<\/strong>for second at 1:41.35.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zach Harting\u00a0<\/strong>just missed the podium, taking third in 1:41.54. The Wolfpack recorded the second-fastest relay in history, behind only the 2:45.39 set by Texas&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Brett Ringgold<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Joseph Schooling\u00a0<\/strong>at last year&#8217;s NCAA championships.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the team crushed its conferene record of 2:46.81 that a team which included Held set back in 2016 on the way to an NCAA title.<\/p>\n<p>NC State won the race by more than five seconds, as Florida State&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Emir Muratovic<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Felipe\u00a0Ribeiro de Souzlipe<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Will Pisani\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Kanoa Kaleoaloha<\/strong>\u00a0took second in 2:50.63.
