400 IM<\/strong><\/h3>\nStanford’s\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>took down both the American and NCAA records in the women’s 400 IM at the Pac-12 championships Friday evening. Ledecky swam a time of 3:56.53, beating\u00a0Katinka Hosszu’s\u00a0<\/strong>NCAA record of 3:56.54 set back in 2012 by one hundredth.<\/p>\nLedecky also crushed the American record of 3:57.57 set by teammate\u00a0Ella Eastin<\/strong>\u00a0last year. Eastin finished second in the race in 3:57.32, also under her previous American record. She now ranks as the third-fastest performer in history behind Ledecky and Hosszu.<\/p>\nStanford’s\u00a0Brooke Forde\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 4:01.04, making it a 1-2-3 sweep for the Cardinal.<\/p>\nCal freshman\u00a0Sarah Darcel\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth in 4:03.00.
