{"id":297638,"date":"2018-02-23T13:57:08","date_gmt":"2018-02-23T20:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=297638"},"modified":"2018-02-23T13:57:08","modified_gmt":"2018-02-23T20:57:08","slug":"stanford-depth-in-full-force-during-pac-12-day-3-prelims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-depth-in-full-force-during-pac-12-day-3-prelims\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanford Depth in Full Force During Pac-12 Day 3 Prelims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Dan D&#8217;Addona.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Stanford depth continued to dominate during the Day 3 preliminaries at the Pac-12 Women\u2019s Championship meet on Friday in Federal Way, Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The first event of the morning was the 400 IM and the Cardinal took a stunning six of the eight spots for tonight\u2019s final, going 1-2-3-4-6-8.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> comfortably swam to the top seed, finishing in 4:00.68.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ella Eastin<\/strong> was right behind at 4:02.22 to take the second seed, followed by <strong>Brooke Forde<\/strong> (4:04.27) and <strong>Allie Szekely<\/strong> (4:05.85).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leah Stevens<\/strong> took sixth (4:08.63) and <strong>Hannah Kukurugya<\/strong> was eighth in 4:09.15.<\/p>\n<p>Cal\u2019s <strong>Sarah Darcel<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 4:06.56. Arizona State\u2019s <strong>Marlies Ross<\/strong> took the seventh seed (4:08.94).<\/p>\n<p>Ledecky wasn\u2019t finished, taking the top seed in the 200 free (1:42.54), just five hundredths ahead of teammate <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> (1:42.59).<\/p>\n<p>Cal\u2019s <strong>Robin Neumann<\/strong> took the third seed (1:44.06), followed by UCLA\u2019s <strong>Katie Grover<\/strong> (1:44.68), Arizona\u2019s <strong>Kirtsen Jacobsen<\/strong> (1:44.73), Stanford\u2019s <strong>Lauren Pitzer<\/strong> (1:44.77), Cal\u2019s <strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> (1:44.96) and Stanford\u2019s <strong>Katie Drabot<\/strong> (1:45.20).<\/p>\n<p>The 100 butterfly is shaping up to be a great race. USC\u2019s <strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> took the top seed in 50.39, just ahead of Cal\u2019s <strong>Noemie Thomas<\/strong> (51.01) and Stanford\u2019s <strong>Ally Howe<\/strong> (51.44).<\/p>\n<p>Cal\u2019s <strong>Katie McLaughlin<\/strong> took the fourth seed (51.84), followed by Stanford\u2019s<strong> Lindsey Engel<\/strong> (52.00), Cal\u2019s <strong>Maddie Murphy<\/strong> (53.37), USC\u2019s <strong>Maddie Wright<\/strong> (52.52) and teammate <strong>Catherine Sanchez<\/strong> (52.55).<\/p>\n<p>The 100 backstroke could be an interesting final as well. Stanford\u2019s <strong>Janet Hu<\/strong> took the top seed at 50.36, six tenths ahead of Cal\u2019s <strong>Kathleen<\/strong> <strong>Baker<\/strong> (50.96). Cal\u2019s <strong>Amy Bilquist<\/strong> was just behind at 51.69.<\/p>\n<p>USC\u2019s <strong>Hannah Weiss<\/strong> took the fourth seed at 51.81, followed by Cal\u2019s <strong>Keaton Blovad<\/strong> (51.90) and teammate <strong>Sophia Krivokapic-Zhou<\/strong> (53.07), UCLA\u2019s <strong>Emma Shanz<\/strong> (53.10) and Arizona\u2019s <strong>Katrina Konopka<\/strong> (53.18).<\/p>\n<p>Arizona State\u2019s <strong>Silja Kansakoski<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke (59.22).
