Participating teams included Villanova, Xavier, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Providence, and Butler.<\/p>\n<p>The Villanova women completed a sweep of the evening&#8217;s events, winning individual titles in the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle, as well as a team title in the 200 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s meet was a closer battle, with Georgetown, Seton Hall, and Villanova competing for top points\u00a0in each championship final heat.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the evening of competition, Villanova Wildcat women sit in first place with 374 over Georgetown&#8217;s 207. On the men&#8217;s side, Villanova held on to the lead with a relay win, garnering 303 points. Georgetown is close behind in second place with 262 points, and reigning champions Seton Hall sit in third place with 218.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow morning, prelims begin at 10am EST with the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and the 400 medley relay. Finals will start at 6pm EST.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 500 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Caitlin Daday<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 500-yard freestyle for Villanova, touching in 4:47.83 over her teammate <strong>Christine Sullivan<\/strong>, who finished in 4:49.75. Daday was just 0.04 off the NCAA B cut. Both men&#8217;s times were NCAA B cuts. Third place went to Villanova&#8217;s <strong>John Davidson<\/strong>, who finished with a time of 4:27.11.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Stange<\/strong> of Georgetown moved up from sixth seed heading into finals to finish in fourth place with his time of 4:29.34. Xavier&#8217;s <strong>Alexander Wolfred<\/strong> touched in 4:30.33 for fifth place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Naugton<\/strong> of Villanova, <strong>Nicholas Mahoney<\/strong> of Xavier, and <strong>Noah Chernik<\/strong> of Villanova rounded out the top heat with their times of 4:31.76, 4:35.26, and 4:38.76. Georgetown freshman <strong>Andrew Carbone<\/strong> and Villanova&#8217;s <strong>Justin Cucchi<\/strong> were neck-and-neck for first place, with Carbone coming out on top by 0.07, touching in a winning time of 1:48.40.<\/p>\n<p>Cucchi put up a strong final 50 split to nab the silver medal in 1:48.47. Both men earned NCAA B cuts in the event.\u00a0<strong>Andrew Kelley<\/strong> of Villanova\u00a0stopped the clock in 1:49.26 for third place.<\/p>\n<p>Georgetown&#8217;s <strong>Daniel Ross<\/strong> was close behind in fourth with his time of 1:50.33. Ross&#8217;s teammate <strong>Tyler Nussbaum<\/strong>\u00a0was fifth with a 1:50.84. Third place went to <strong>Taylor Wilson<\/strong> of Villanova in 23.02, while Wildcat freshman <strong>Millicent Routledge<\/strong> touched close behind in 23.05.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining places were tight finishes, with <strong>Samantha Cheruk<\/strong> of Villanova touching 0.09 ahead of sixth place <strong>Paxtyn Drew<\/strong> of Xavier.
