Although its program is only five years old, the Blue from Huntersville, NC have established themselves as a 1A\/2A powerhouse, having already accumulated four team titles.<\/p>\n<p>Christ the King dominated both the boys and girls meets. The girls finished with 281 points, easily ahead of The Oneal School (225 points) and Caldwell Academy (178 points). Christ the King boys amassed 284 points, with Cary Christian School finishing in second (193 points) and Caldwell Academy claiming third (172 points).<\/p>\n<h2>Girls<\/h2>\n<p>Christ the King took the lead from the first relay and never looked back. The girls 200 Medley Relay of <strong>Annie Donahue, Sophie Filiault, Amanda Hoffman<\/strong> and <strong>Jordan Lamoreux<\/strong> (1:52.40) claimed relay gold. Caldwell Academy (<strong>Maddie Smith, Lillie Smith, Aurora Cranford <\/strong>and<strong> Morgan Spohn<\/strong>) earned the silver in 1:54.39. The Oneal School\u2019s <strong>Elizabeth Henry, Natalie Williams, Molly Kuzma <\/strong>and<strong> Hannah Burns<\/strong> rounded out the podium in a 1:56.03.<\/p>\n<p>Carolina Day School\u2019s <strong>Katie Bauer<\/strong>, the only swimmer under 2:00 in the 200 free, picked up the first individual gold of the night with a winning time of 1:58.57. Arendell Parrott Academy\u2019s <strong>Grace Fountain<\/strong> was second in 2:01.95, followed by Cranford in 2:05.82.<\/p>\n<p>Carolina Day School picked up another individual gold in the 200 IM when <strong>Olivia Sutter<\/strong> got to the wall first after a number of lead changes with Henry, with Sutter\u2019s 2:07.70, besting Henry\u2019s 2:08.50. Lamoreux claimed the bronze medal (2:13.11).<\/p>\n<p>Senior Maddie Smith of Caldwell Academy won the 50 free, breaking the state and meet records in an All-American Consideration time of 23.46. Rocky Mount freshman <strong>Kayla Miller<\/strong> was right behind Smith, finishing in 23.75. Third went to Cape Fear Academy\u2019s freshman <strong>Liza Murtagh<\/strong> (24.62).<\/p>\n<p>A second girls\u2019 record fell in the 100 fly when Christ the King\u2019s Hoffman stopped the clock at 56.91. <strong>Ana Johnson<\/strong> of Grace Christian picked up a silver in 57.40 with Murtagh taking the third spot on the podium (1:00.51).<\/p>\n<p>Miller prevailed in the 100 Free, hitting the wall in 51.36 for the victory over Burn (53.64) and Lamoreaux (54.74).<br \/>\nHoffman claimed her second title of the night in the 500 free, posting a winning time of 5:04.05. Sutter was second (5:14.49) with Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill\u2019s <strong>Sarah Nelson<\/strong> in third (5:26.59).<\/p>\n<p>Caldwell Academy\u2019s sprint squad (Smith, Spohn, Cranford, Smith) stood atop the podium after the 200 Free Relay with a state record time of 1:43.03 They were followed by The Oneal School (Henry, <strong>Lauren Millard<\/strong>, Kuzma, Burns) in second at 1:45.11 and Christ the King (Filiault, <strong>Paige Woodworth, Cara Setzer, Kaylee Mosher<\/strong>) in third with a 1:46.36.<\/p>\n<p>Oneal senior Henry earned individual gold in the 100 back. Her time of 57.76 was just off the state record 57.46 she set in 2017. Second place went to Christ the King\u2019s Donahue (1:03.10), with Davidson Day School\u2019s <strong>Morgan Harris<\/strong> claiming third in 1:04.22.<\/p>\n<p>Maddie Smith ended her High School career with a record-breaking swim in the 100 breast. Smith\u2019s time of 1:02.26 earns Automatic All-American status. <strong>Erin Butler<\/strong> of Asheville Christian Academy finished in second (1:10.12) followed closely by St. Thomas More Academy\u2019s <strong>Caroline Dodson<\/strong> (1:10.28).<\/p>\n<p>Christ the King ended the meet as they had begun it\u2014with a dominant win in the 400 Freestyle Relay by the quad of Hoffman, Mosher, Donahue, and Lamoreux (3:46.32). They were joined on the podium by Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill (<strong>Katie Blair, Annie O\u2019Brien, Natalie Epps<\/strong> and Nelson in 3:58.56) and Arendell Parrott Academy (<strong>Maggie Tyndall, Katie Frank, Emily Piwowarski<\/strong> and Fountain in 3:58.83).<\/p>\n<h2>Boys<\/h2>\n<p>The boys of Christ the King also began the meet with a statement, taking the top spot on the podium in the 200 medley relay by a convincing margin of eight seconds. Christ the King (<strong>Tim Connery, Ben Duckworth, Alex Adams <\/strong>and<strong> Keenan Burgess<\/strong>) finished in 1:36.94, with second going to Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill (<strong>Owen Lloyd, Justin Lloyd, Sam Faber <\/strong>and<strong> Peter Passaro<\/strong>) in 1:44.45 and third to Cary Christian School (<strong>Andrew Li, Miller Davenport, Brian Hollis <\/strong>and<strong> Ryan Koluch<\/strong>) in 1:45.94.<\/p>\n<p>Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill senior Justin Lloyd claimed the title in the 200 free (1:44.85) with University Christian High School\u2019s <strong>Tommy Little<\/strong> in second (1:46.19), and <strong>Trevor Wyatt<\/strong> of Calvary Day School taking the third spot on the podium in a 1:46.71.<\/p>\n<p>Connery of Christ the King crushed the field in the 200 IM, winning by almost 10 seconds in a new state record and Automatic All-American time of 1:48.68. He was joined on the podium by teammate Duckworth in second (1:57.57) and Grace Christian\u2019s <strong>John Chapman<\/strong> (1:58.38).<\/p>\n<p>Carolina Friends School earned the top spot on the podium with <strong>Duncan Charboneau<\/strong>\u2019s 50 free victory. Charboneau got his hand on the wall first (21.76) in a tight race with <strong>Chase Osorio<\/strong> (21.88) of The Oneal School. <strong>Conner Wang<\/strong> of The Epiphany School finished third in 22.03.<\/p>\n<p>Christ the King struck again in the 100 fly with <strong>Alex Adams<\/strong> taking the top spot with a 51.61, followed by Cary Christian School\u2019s <strong>Brian Hollis<\/strong> (52.04), with Wang picking up his second individual bronze (52.62).<\/p>\n<p>After his silver medal in the 50 free, Osorio came out on top in a tightly contested race in the 100 free, earning the gold in 48.50. Wyatt finished right behind him in 48.66, with <strong>Zander Pittman<\/strong> of Wayne Country Day School finishing third in 48.91.<\/p>\n<p>Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill claimed two spots on the podium in the 500 free with brothers Owen Lloyd finishing first in 4:40.53 and Justin Lloyd in third at 4:44.17. Hollis picked up his second silver in 4:44.05.<\/p>\n<p>The sprint squad of Cary Christian School (<strong>Ryan Koluch, Judah Reeves, Miller Davenport<\/strong> and Hollis) claimed gold in the 200 free relay with a 1:33.21. Caldwell Academy (<strong>Carson Reynolds, John Ramos, Cam Hunter <\/strong>and<strong> Matt Hinson<\/strong>) finished second (1:36.16) and Christ the King (<strong>Danny Koenigsberger, Charlie Merryman, Matthew Zagar<\/strong>, Duckworth) was third in 1:37.10.<\/p>\n<p>Connery picked up his second individual gold in the 100 back with a 49.38. It was another state record and Automatic All-American performance by the impressive freshman from Christ the King. Connery was followed by Grace Christian\u2019s <strong>Ryan Wahlers<\/strong> in second (53.70) and <strong>Logan Zucker<\/strong> of Woodlawn School in third (54.67).<\/p>\n<p>The 100 breast saw only one swimmer break the 1:00 mark, with Duckworth taking gold in 59.31. Pittman (1:01.26) and Chapman (1:02.93) joined him on the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Fittingly, the final race of the night for the men was claimed by the Christ the King quad of Adams, <strong>Keenan Burgess<\/strong>, Koenigsberger and Connery in 3:18.67. Christ the King just missed lowering the record (3:18.42) they had set in 2017.
