The men’s ACC championships kicked off Wednesday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C., with teams from Louisville and NC State each coming away with an early relay win.<\/p>\n

Diving was contested last week with women’s ACC championships, but scores will be added in as they normally would fall in the program. Including the results of 3-meter diving only, NC State leads the competition with 158 points, followed by Florida State (157) and Duke (147).<\/p>\n

The meet opened with the 4×50 medley relay, and even though Louisville trailed through the first three legs of the race,\u00a0Andrej Barna\u00a0<\/strong>pulled out a blistering 18.54 anchor leg to put his team in front. The team of\u00a0Nicolas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>(20.95),\u00a0Carlos Claverie\u00a0<\/strong>(23.55),\u00a0Zach Harting\u00a0<\/strong>(20.37) and Barna posted a time of 1:23.41.<\/p>\n

NC State’s team of\u00a0Coleman Stewart<\/strong>,\u00a0Jacob Molacek<\/strong>,\u00a0Giovanni Izzo<\/strong> and\u00a0Cobe Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 1:23.93. The Wolfpack rested the team’s two best sprinters,\u00a0Ryan Held\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Justin Ress<\/strong>, leaving them available for all other relay action.<\/p>\n

Virginia’s\u00a0foursome of\u00a0Joe Clark<\/strong>,\u00a0Keefer Barnum<\/strong>, Bryce Keblish<\/strong> and\u00a0Luke Kerogiadis\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:24.69.<\/p>\n

Florida State finished in 1:24.95, just missing the NCAA A-cut of 1:24.95, and other teams finishing in the top eight included Notre Dame (1:25.37), North Carolna (1:25.92), Duke (1:25.99) and Virginia Tech (1:26.03).<\/p>\n

In the evening’s second relay, the Wolfpack dominated the 4×200 free relay.\u00a0Andreas Vazaios<\/strong> (1:33.70), Held (1:33.11),\u00a0Anton Ipsen<\/strong> (1:34.08) and Ress (1:32.03) recorded a time of 6:12.92, almost four seconds ahead of runner-up Louisville.<\/p>\n
The Cardinals’ team of\u00a0Sam Steele<\/strong>, Harting,\u00a0Marcelo Acosta<\/strong> and\u00a0Jarrett Jones\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 6:16.88, with Harting recording a split of 1:32.33. Virginia’s\u00a0Ryan Baker<\/strong>,\u00a0Sam Schilling<\/strong>, Georgiadis and\u00a0Cooper Wozencraft\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 6:19.80.<\/p>\n
Virginia Tech (6:20.18), Notre Dame (6:21.70), Georgia Tech (6:22.44), Pittsburgh (6:22.56) and Florida State (6:22.78) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n
