Michigan State University         172<\/pre>\n<h3>1650 Free<\/h3>\n<p>Penn State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ally McHugh\u00a0<\/strong>posted one of the best times in the nation we have seen with a 15:43.34 to break the meet record held by Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>G Ryan<\/strong> (15:44.93). This is Penn State&#8217;s first Big Ten victory in the 1650 since 1994 when\u00a0<strong>Regan Stacey\u00a0<\/strong>won the title for the Nittany Lions. It is also Penn State&#8217;s first Big Ten title since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>She led a very fast field as Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rose Bi\u00a0<\/strong>finished in second at 15:51.18 and Ohio State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Molly Kowal\u00a0<\/strong>had a monster back half to finish in third at 15:53.11.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sierra Schmidt\u00a0<\/strong>(15:54.39), Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cassy Jernberg\u00a0<\/strong>(15:54.41), Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>G Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>(15:59.72), Purdue&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaersten Michigan State University         132                                           \r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<h3>200 Back<\/h3>\n<p>Wisconsin sophomore\u00a0<strong>Beata Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>won her second event of the weekend with a 1:49.59 to break the Big Ten meet record that was her own at 1:50.46. Nelson set that record this morning in prelims and went almost a full second faster. Michigan senior\u00a0<strong>Clara Smiddy\u00a0<\/strong>came in second place at 1:50.63 and Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kennedy Goss\u00a0<\/strong>was third at 1:51.66.<\/p>\n<p>Smiddy was the 2016 champion and Goss was the 2017 champion, and Nelson beat both of them for the crown in 2018. Nelson is Wisconsin&#8217;s first Big Ten champion in the 200 back since\u00a0<strong>Maggie Meyer\u00a0<\/strong>won in 2011. Michigan State University         132<\/pre>\n<h3>100 Free<\/h3>\n<p>In one of the most hyped races of the meet, Ohio State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Liz Li\u00a0<\/strong>won her third event of the meet with a 47.43 in the 100 free final. Li held off Michigan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>at 47.54. Li won the 50 and Haughey won the 200 so the two clashed in between in the 100 on Saturday night but it was Li who won the final in her home pool for a new Big Ten meet record. King back halfed the final with 31.9&#8217;s on her last two 50&#8217;s as she got some serious pressure from former teammate\u00a0<strong>Miranda Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>of Michigan.
