Day three of the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships got underway tonight with intense match-ups all over the pool as the Houston women and Cincinnati men head for AAC team titles.<\/p>\n
SMU seniors Matea Samardzic<\/strong> (4:09.75) and Jonathan Gomez<\/strong> (3:50.18) each won the\u00a0400 IM to open up the session, for the women’s and men’s teams at SMU.<\/p>\n Southern Methodist continued to roll with sophomore Erin Trahan<\/strong> took a win in the 100 fly with a quick 53.28, ahead of Houston’s Victoria Tillman<\/strong> (54.26) and Tulane’s Kaitlin Simpson<\/strong> (54.28).<\/p>\n ECU got it’s first win of the night with sophomore Gustavo Santos<\/strong> winning the 100 fly in a time of 46.82, which dipped under the old meet record of 47.04. SMU’s Golcyzk Szymon<\/strong> took second in 47.44.<\/p>\n The Houston women put together a 1-2-3 sweep of the women’s 200 free. Zarena Brown<\/strong> (1:45.78) led the way while Ksenia Yuskova<\/strong> (1:47.71) and Mykenzie Leehy<\/strong> (1:47.85) followed behind.<\/p>\n The Cincinnati men completed the exact same feat in same race with Johannes Kabelk<\/strong> (1:36.83) leading the way with his teammates Din Selmanovic<\/strong> (1:36.85) and Justin Crew<\/strong> (1:37.49) taking second and third place, respectively.<\/p>\n Houston’s Peyton Kondis<\/strong> took the win in the women’s 100 breaststroke with a quick 59.73 with SMU freshman Andrea Podmanik<\/strong> taking second in 59.95. Third place went to HU’s Angeliki Mavran<\/strong> who posted a 1:01.40.<\/p>\n ECU freshman Jacek Arentewic<\/strong> broke a pool record on his way to winning a conference title with a time of 53.78 in the men’s 100 breast.
