Day three of the 2018 women’s Atlantic Coast Conference championships got underway again this morning with the preliminary session. With UVA and Louisville only separated by less than 30 points after last night’s finals, the race for the ACC team title becomes that much closer with every place in finals counting towards crowning a new ACC team champion.<\/p>\n
Florida State’s Tayla Lovemore<\/strong> posted a 51.68 in the 100 fly, which earned her the lane four\u00a0position going into tonight while Louisville’s Grace Oglesby<\/strong> (51.78) and Duke’s Leah Goldman<\/strong> (52.23) will flank\u00a0Lovemore in lanes five and six in the A final.<\/p>\n The Hokies earned a middle lane in the 400 IM by virtue of their sophomore Reka Gyorgy<\/strong> (4:07.74) posting the fastest time out of the morning. Rachael<\/strong>\u00a0Bradford-Feldman<\/strong> from Louisville posted the second fastest time in a 4:08.23 while N.C. State senior Hannah Moore<\/strong> touched in 4:10.24.<\/p>\n Cardinal junior Mallory Comerford<\/strong> set herself up for a potential ACC title in the 200 free tonight as she posted the quickest time of this morning’s heats with a 1:43.76 while UVA senior Jen Marrkand<\/strong> (1:43.85) will be\u00a0right next to Comerford tonight. Marrkand’s teammate Megan Moroney<\/strong> (1:44.55) touched third.<\/p>\n FSU’s breaststroke all-star Natalie Pierce<\/strong> was the only athlete under 1:00 in the 100 breast this morning with her 59.36 while UNC freshman duo of Caroline Hauder<\/strong> (1:00.04) and Brooke Perrotta<\/strong> (1:00.27) followed behind.<\/p>\n Elise Haan<\/strong> out of N.C. State shocked no one when she posted the fastest time of this morning’s prelims in the 100 back by swimming a 51.42 while UNC’s Caroline Baldwin<\/strong> was just behind in 52.02.
