Day two of the 2018 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships was highlighted by Nevada’s\u00a0Sharae Zheng\u00a0<\/strong>dominating the women’s 3-meter diving, breaking her own conference and meet record.<\/p>\n

Women’s 4×50 Freestyle Relay<\/h2>\n

Boise State dominated the opening event of day two of competition, winning by over one second.\u00a0The team of\u00a0Abbey Sorenson\u00a0<\/strong>(22.37),\u00a0Emmie Jennings\u00a0<\/strong>(22.46),\u00a0Robin Pinger\u00a0<\/strong>(22.33) and\u00a0Allyson Kleinsorgen\u00a0<\/strong>(22.23) finished with a final time of 1:29.39.<\/p>\n

San Diego’sKlara Thormalm, Alma Thormalm, Peyton Wilson<\/strong> and\u00a0Summer Harrison\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 1:30.57 while UNLV’s\u00a0Caitlyn Schreiber, Katsuaryna Afanasyeva, Sydney Schuette\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sofia Carnevale\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:31.39.<\/p>\n

After winning the 1-meter last night, Nevada’s\u00a0Sharae Zheng\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 3-meter this evening for the third-straight year. The senior posted a score of 424.53, breaking her own Mountain West meet and all-time record she set last year.<\/p>\n
Wyoming’s\u00a0Karla Contreras\u00a0<\/strong>dove to second with 340.14 points while Fresno’s\u00a0Serena Sedillo\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a score of 329.10.<\/p>\n
UNLV’s\u00a0Mykayla Fielding\u00a0<\/strong>(315.90), San Diego’s\u00a0Alexandra Caplan\u00a0<\/strong>(306.06), Nevada’s\u00a0Zoe Lei\u00a0<\/strong>(279.00), San Diego’s\u00a0Nicole Dutton\u00a0<\/strong>(274.92) and Air Force’s\u00a0Eve Fowler\u00a0<\/strong>(207.78) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

It was a close battle between first and second, but San Diego’s\u00a0Frida Berggren\u00a0<\/strong>used a strong freestyle leg to get her hand on the wall first. The senior won gold in a time of 1:59.28.<\/p>\n
Nevada’s\u00a0Andressa Cholodovskis Lima\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed silver in 1:59.40 and Boise State’s\u00a0Emily Mathis\u00a0<\/strong>earned bronze in 2:00.83.<\/p>\n

After helping Boise State win a 4×50 free relay title, Sorensen dove back in the pool to win the Mountain West title in the individual 50 free. The junior splashed and dashed her way to a quick 22.53.<\/p>\n
Wyoming’s\u00a0Isobel Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 22.79 while San Diego’s\u00a0Klara Thormalm took a close third in 22.80.<\/p>\n
Boise State’s Kleinsorgen (22.82), San Jose’s\u00a0Brittany Heng\u00a0<\/strong>(22.85), Boise State’s Jennings (22.98), Colorado State’s\u00a0Rowan Hauber\u00a0<\/strong>(23.05) and Air Force’s\u00a0Lydia Knutson\u00a0<\/strong>(23.09) also earned top-eight finishes.<\/p>\n
