Indiana got started with a near American Record in the 200 medley relay and Michigan won the 800 free relay handily without their best swimmer. But Michigan disqualified their medley relay so they will be in a bit of a hole the rest of the meet as the Hoosiers have a lot of momentum moving forward.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-big-ten-womens-swimming-and-diving-championships-day-one-results-day-1-ncaa-college-2018-02-14.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>200 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Indiana Hoosiers got the Big Ten Championships started just narrowly missing the NCAA and American Records in the 200 medley relay.\u00a0<strong>Ali Rockett<\/strong>\u00a0(23.63),\u00a0<strong>Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>(25.84),\u00a0<strong>Christie Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>(22.67) and\u00a0<strong>Grace Haskett\u00a0<\/strong>(22.02) won the Big Ten title with a 1:34.16. That swim narrowly missed Cal&#8217;s record from last year of 1:34.10 and Stanford&#8217;s American Record from 2016 of 1:34.15.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford&#8217;s American Record of 1:34.15 was set at Pac-12&#8217;s in 2016 with\u00a0<strong>Ally Howe\u00a0<\/strong>(23.62),\u00a0<strong>Sarah Haase\u00a0<\/strong>(26.20),\u00a0<strong>Janet Hu<\/strong>\u00a0(22.82)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal\u00a0<\/strong>(21.51). The NCAA record was set at NCAA&#8217;s last year of 1:34.10 by Cal who had two international swimmers on the relay.\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>(23.62),\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>(26.67),\u00a0<strong>Noemie Thomas<\/strong>\u00a0(22.70) and\u00a0<strong>Farida Osman\u00a0<\/strong>(21.11)\u00a0swam for Cal last year and will hang on to the record for another day.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota (1:35.06) and Ohio State (1:35.51) finished second and third. The team of\u00a0<strong>Rose Bi\u00a0<\/strong>(1:44.15),\u00a0<strong>Gabby DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>(1:42.30),\u00a0<strong>Catie DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>(1:44.24) and\u00a0<strong>G Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>(1:45.59) took control early and didn&#8217;t look back as Michigan won the race with a 6:56.28.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan won the race even without\u00a0<strong>Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>who was fourth at NCAA&#8217;s last year and could have easily split a 1:41 or 1:42. This really showcases Michigan&#8217;s depth in the middle distance freestyle events as they still did not have a split slower than a 1:45.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota finished in second at 6:59.53 and Indiana
