HOLLAND, Michigan, February 16. DEFENDING MIAA men's champion Kalamazoo has built up a 48-point lead, while a victory in the 400-yard medley relay Wednesday night propelled Hope into a narrow lead over seven-time defending women's champion Calvin at the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Holland Community Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n

While the Hornets won only one of six events Wednesday, their depth throughout each event has allowed them to build up a lead over second-place Hope. In the women's competition, Hope won five consecutive events after Calvin won the 200-yard freestyle relay to take a 1.5-point lead over the Knights.<\/p>\n

Competition resumes Friday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
