After a record setting meet for the 6A girls last year, only time will tell how much faster some of these swimmers can go.<\/p>\n<h2>5A<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-texas-5a-high-school-states-heat-sheets-high-school-2018-02-16.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5A Heet Sheet<\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>Girls<\/h3>\n<p>A freshman,\u00a0<strong>Ana Herceg\u00a0<\/strong>of Pflugerville Weiss, has the top seed in the 200 freestyle. The 100 backstroke also has a ninth grader in the top spot:\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Owens\u00a0<\/strong>of A&amp;M Consolidated.<\/p>\n<p>Nacogdoches senior\u00a0<strong>Jesse Stovall\u00a0<\/strong>leads the way in the 50 freestyle. She&#8217;s also second seed in the 100, behind Boerne Champion&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brittney Pike<\/strong>.\u00a0Two girls are entered under five minutes in the 500 free: Lucas Lovejoy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Raime Jones\u00a0<\/strong>and Frisco Lone Star&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Joelle Reddin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Boys<\/h3>\n<p>Dallas Highland Park senior\u00a0<strong>Felix Van Cauwelaert\u00a0<\/strong>is top seed in the 200 free and also seeded to final in the 500 free. Austin&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Will Barton\u00a0<\/strong>has the top spot in the longer freestyle event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Hallaron<\/strong>, a senior from Grapevine, has a three second lead over the field entering the 200 IM. He&#8217;s second seed in the 100 back behind A&amp;M Consolidated&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Peter Simmons<\/strong>&#8211; also the 100 fly top seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Armstrong\u00a0<\/strong>has the fastest entry in the 100 freestyle. The Manvel junior is also first seed in the 50 free.<\/p>\n<h2>6A<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-texas-6a-high-school-states-heat-sheets-high-school-2018-02-16.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6A Heat Sheet<\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>Girls<\/h3>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/dakota-luther-breaks-dana-vollmers-100-fly-high-school-state-record-at-finals-of-texas-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last year&#8217;s meet<\/a> eventual World Championship team member\u00a0<strong>Dakota Luther\u00a0<\/strong>broke Olympian\u00a0<strong>Dana Vollmer<\/strong>&#8216;s state record in the 100 fly. The Austin Westlake senior is third seed in that event\u00a0this year, and will look to lower her mark before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-high-school-record-holder-dakota-luther-gives-verbal-commit-to-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heading to the University of Georgia<\/a> in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Luther will also swim the 200 free. Also in that event is\u00a0<strong>Lucie Nordmann<\/strong>, the Conroe Woodlands senior. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-super-team-developing-with-latest-commit-from-lucie-nordmann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stanford bound swimmer<\/a>&#8216;s second event will be the 100 backstroke.\u00a0Nordmann&#8217;s sophomore sister\u00a0<strong>Lillie\u00a0<\/strong>will race the 200 IM and 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>At last year&#8217;s meet Conroe the Woodlands narrowly beat Austin Westlake for the team title, and the Nordmann duo should be key to a repeat championship. Their sophomore teammate\u00a0<strong>Valerie Anne Staffeldt<\/strong> is top seed in the 50 free, and seeded to final in the 100 as well.<\/p>\n<p>McKinney Boyd&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vanessa Pearl,<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-collects-verbal-commit-from-versatile-vanessa-pearl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a Florida commit<\/a>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is the 200 IM top seed and second in the 100 breaststroke. Montgomery junior\u00a0<strong>Kaitlynn Sims\u00a0<\/strong>is top seed in the 500 free by nine seconds.<\/p>\n<h3>Boys<\/h3>\n<p>Southlake Carroll had a decisive victory last year. The team returns superstar and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jack-levant-verbally-commits-to-stanford-in-class-of-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stanford commit<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Jack LeVant<\/strong>, the top seed in the 200 and 500 free.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-am-grabs-verbal-committ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soon to be Texas A&amp;M Aggie<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Clayton Bobo\u00a0<\/strong>of Houston Stratford leads the way in the 50 and 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Belton senior\u00a0<strong>Noah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>has the top spot in the 100 fly, just ahead of McAllen&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong>. Casas has the fastest 100 backstroke entry time.
