Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Olympic gold medalist <\/span><b>Kirsty Coventry <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kirsty-coventry-named-chair-of-ioc-athletes-commission\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has been named the chair of the International Olympic Committee Athletes Commission<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Coventry\u00a0was appointed by IOC\u00a0President <\/span><b>Thomas Bach <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in advance of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Coventry has been active on the commission since 2012, with her new appointment focusing on developing the strategy developed by outgoing chair <\/span><b>Angela Ruggiero<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the International Athletes\u2019 Forum back in November. Coventry competed in five Olympic Games, ending her career in the final of the 200 back at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Stanford-Cal rivalry runs deep, with both teams featuring some of the biggest names in college swimming. The win gives Stanford a perfect 8-0 dual meet record heading into Pac-12 Championships and extends their current dual meet win to 23. Sophomore <\/span><b>Katie Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">impressed as always, pulling off the 1000 (9:13.74) and 200 (1:43.00) free double in addition to a win in the 500 (4:34.54). Notably, Cal\u2019s <\/span><b>Abbey Weitzeil <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">touched out Olympic gold medalist <\/span><b>Simone Manuel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the 50 free 22.04 to 22.13, setting a pool record in the process. Manuel has recently returned to competition after sitting out much of the season with an injury. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The girls team from Carmel high school have done it again, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/emily-weiss-sets-national-record-carmel-girls-win-32nd-straight-indiana-high-school-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">winning their 32nd straight Indiana State High School Championship<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Carmel team won with 363 points, more than 100 points ahead of second place Northridge (215 points). The team punctuated their win with victories to open and close the meet, winning the 200 medley relay (1:42.31) and the 400 free relay (3:21.78) by healthy margins. Junior <\/span><b>Kelly Pash <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was on both of those relays and added two individual titles in the 200 (1:45.50) and 100 (48.59) frees. Indiana high school junior and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-jr-team-member-emily-weiss-verbally-commits-to-indianas-class-of-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indiana University commit<\/span><\/a> <b>Emily Weiss <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">turned heads with a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/emily-weiss-breaks-100-breaststroke-national-high-school-record\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new National High School record in the 100 breast<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, touching the wall in 58.40 to beat\u00a0<\/span><b>Lindsey Horejsi\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2015 record by a tenth. At the Tennessee state championships <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/high-school-junior-trey-freeman-commits-to-florida-gators\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Florida commit<\/span><\/a> <b>Trey Freeman <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">set a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/baylors-trey-freeman-blasts-133-06-200-free-for-national-hs-record\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new National High School record of his own in the 200 free<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, cruising past the field in 1:33.06 to drop two-tenths off the record. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week, 2009 World Champion <\/span><b>Ariana Kukors <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2009-world-champion-ariana-kukors-alleges-former-coach-sean-hutchison-sexually-abused-her\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">came forward with allegations of sexual abuse against her former coach,\u00a0<\/span><b>Sean Hutchison<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Kukors alleges that Hutchison first sexually assaulted her starting at 16 years old, with abuse continuing until she was 24. While Hutchison <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sean-hutchison-denies-abusing-ariana-kukors-officially-leaves-king-aquatic-club\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">released a statement claiming their relationship was consensual and denying any abuse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Kukors has since <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/295036-2\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">posted a detailed narrative of the relationship on her website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including accounts of \u201cgrooming\u201d that she states began when she was just 13. Questions regarding the nature of Hutchison and Kukors&#8217; relationship have been around for several years, with USA Swimming <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-investigation-of-coach-sean-hutchison-finds-no-inappropriate-relationship\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conducting an investigation back in 2010<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and clearing Hutchison of any wrongdoing.
