The competition continued to narrow from there as the boys from Ankeny and Bettendorf tied for third overall with matching scores of 166.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>Ames began their push towards victory with an early win in the 200 medley relay as the team of\u00a0<strong>Ethan Johnson<\/strong> (24.33),\u00a0<strong>Dalton Lillibridge<\/strong> (25.42),\u00a0<strong>Misho Mahrous<\/strong> (23.26), and\u00a0<strong>Nick Matthews<\/strong> (20.82) posted a 1:33.83. Iowa City High claimed second in the relay with a 1:34.28, while West Des Moines valley was third with a 1:34.49.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Allmon<\/strong>\u00a0of Lewis Central claimed the first individual victory of the day with a top showing in the 200 free. The senior charged to a time of 1:41.31 to earn automatic All-America status. Fort Dodge&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Fierke<\/strong> took second overall with a 1:40.91, followed by Dowling Catholic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nick Chase<\/strong> (1:41.06).<\/p>\n<p>Bettendorf&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Caleb Aman<\/strong> collected gold in the 200 IM with a top showing of 1:50.49, earning himself a consideration for All-America status.\u00a0<strong>Cameron Linder<\/strong> of Waukee grabbed second with a time of 1:53.30, just ahead of Johnston&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Scott Lair&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:54.06.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob Keller<\/strong> of West Des Moines Valley (WDMV) dashed to the only sub-21 second finish in the men&#8217;s 50 free, stopping the clock at a top finish of 20.75 for All-America consideration. Pleasant Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kevin Burke<\/strong> posted a 21.11 for second overall, followed by Waukee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mitchell Pollitt&#8217;s<\/strong> 21.37.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa City High&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Forrest Frazier<\/strong> led the 100 fly final from start-to-finsh, claiming gold with a time of 49.10.\u00a0<strong>Dalton Lillibridge<\/strong> of Ames took second overall with a 50.49, just ahead of Linn-Mar&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Peng<\/strong> and his time of 50.60.<\/p>\n<p>Allmon (Lewis Central) collected his second individual win of the day with a top showing in the men&#8217;s 100 free with a time of 45.61. Keller (WDMV) added a silver medal to his collection with a 45.92 showing, while Bettendorf&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charlie Bunn<\/strong> turned in a 46.60 for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dylan Moffatt<\/strong> of Cedar Falls surged past the competition and on towards a new state record in the 500 free. The sophomore posted a dominating 4:27.77 to earn automatic All-America status and down\u00a0<strong>Cameron Kelley&#8217;s<\/strong> 2016 record of 4:29.96. Ankeny freshman\u00a0<strong>Trent Frandson<\/strong> grabbed second in the 500 free with a 4:32.42, followed by Fort Dodge&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Fierke&#8217;s<\/strong> 4:32.94.<\/p>\n<p>The Bettendorf boys dashed ahead of the competition in the 200 free relay to earn automatic All-America status. The quad of\u00a0Bunn<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(21.42),\u00a0<strong>Luke Nickles<\/strong> (22.11),\u00a0<strong>Andrew Ottavianelli<\/strong> (20.90), and Aman (20.39) posted a final time of 1:24.82. West Des Moines Valley earned second place with a 1:25.17, followed by Ankeny&#8217;s 1:26.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick Chase<\/strong> of Dowling Catholic claimed gold in the 100 back with a 49.48 to earn automatic All-America status. Bettendorf&#8217;s Aman, fresh off a relay victory, collected second overall with a 50.81, while West Des Moines Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Evan Porter<\/strong> added a third place finish of 51.24.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 breast saw yet another state record fall as Iowa City High&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Forrest Frazier\u00a0<\/strong>demolished the 2003 record of 55.69 with a 54.16. Ames&#8217; Lillibridge turned in a 56.78 for second overall, followed by Decorah&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Noah Faldet&#8217;s<\/strong> 57.36.<\/p>\n<p>West Des Moines Valley dominated the final relay of the day: the 400 free relay.\u00a0<strong>Gregg Lichinsky<\/strong> (47.76),\u00a0<strong>Evan Porter<\/strong> (47.22),\u00a0<strong>Casey Bach<\/strong> (46.31), and\u00a0<strong>Jacob Keller<\/strong> (45.58) posted a final time of 3:06.87 to finish more than four seconds ahead of the competition.
