For more information about Agon, visit their website\u00a0<\/i><i><a href=\"https:\/\/agonswim.com\/\">AgonSwim.com<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Powered by a National High School record, the team from Fossil Ridge High School dominated the 2018 Colorado 5A High School swimming and diving state championships. The team scored 424 points to win, after winning all but two events. Fairview High was second with 319 points.<\/p>\n<p>To start the meet the girls from Fossil Ridge High School took down the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fossil-ridge-girls-crush-national-hs-record-in-200-medley-relay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> National High School record<\/a> in the 200 medley relay. The team of\u00a0<strong>Bayley Stewart<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zoe Bartel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Coleen Gillilan<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kylee Alons\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a time of 1:38.13.\u00a0That time sets a new overall record, faster than the public school mark of 1:39.25 set by Carmel in 2015. It&#8217;s also faster than the new Independent School mark of 1:38.77, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/harpeth-hall-home-of-the-walsh-sisters-demolishes-200-medley-relay-national-independent-school-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">set just yesterday<\/a> by Harpeth Hall. Mountain Vista was second in 1:44.47.<\/p>\n<p>Gillilan, the only non-senior on the record setting relay, rode the momentum. The junior won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.98. Chatfield freshman\u00a0<strong>Kathryn Shanley\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 1:52.16 and Fairview junior\u00a0<strong>Mikayla Seigal\u00a0<\/strong>finished third (1:52.60). Gillian returned for another impressive, dominant performance in the 100 butterfly- finishing in 52.57. Mountain Vista&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Natalie Arky\u00a0<\/strong>(55.67) and Gillilan&#8217;s sophomore teammate\u00a0<strong>Caraline Baker\u00a0<\/strong>(55.85) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Shanley won the 500 free with a 5:02.44. The freshman was joined at the top by another ninth grader- Dakota Ridge&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Melinda Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>(5:07.72).<\/p>\n<p>After sharing relay victory Bartel and Stewart then dove into the same 200 IM final. Bartel came out on top, winning the event in 1:59.17. Stewart was third in 2:04.49, followed by junior teammate\u00a0<strong>Andrea Niemann\u00a0<\/strong>(2:06.92), In second was\u00a0<strong>Delaney Smith<\/strong>, a senior from Arapahoe in 2:02.51.<\/p>\n<p>Alons kept the wins coming for Fossil Ridge, stopping the clock in 22.91 in the 50 freestyle.\u00a0<strong>Emily Barrier\u00a0<\/strong>of Rocky Mountain was second in 23.46 and\u00a0<strong>Jada Surrell-Norwood\u00a0<\/strong>of Regis Jesuit finished third in 23.55. Alons also won the 100 free in 49.64. Surrell-Norwood touched in 50.26 for second and Lewis-Palmer&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Meredith Rees\u00a0<\/strong>was third (50.99).<\/p>\n<p>Fossil Ridge won back to back to back events in the 100 back, 100 breast, and 400 free relay. Stewart took the 100 back in 54.15, ahead of Ress (54.87) and\u00a0<strong>Natalie Arky\u00a0<\/strong>of Mountain Vista in 55.02. Bartel then clocked a 1:00.47 to win the 100 breaststroke ahead of teammate Baker in 1:02.91.
