The 1A\/2A meet will take place on Friday.\u00a0In 2017\u00a0the women from Pine Lake Prep and the men from Washington took home the state titles.<\/p>\n<h2>Women<\/h2>\n<p>Defending 200 freestyle champion\u00a0<strong>Lyndsey Reeve\u00a0<\/strong>of Croatan is the top seed in the event. Last year she was followed closely by Raleigh Charter&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sydney Willis<\/strong>. Willis is entered fourth this year, but has yet to near her best time, through the Regional competition.<\/p>\n<p>Willis won the 500 freestyle last year. She&#8217;s seeded third, but last year&#8217;s winning time would put her well ahead of others&#8217; entry times. After finishing second in the 500 free last year, Reeve has switched to the 100 butterfly this year, where she has the fastest entry time.<\/p>\n<p>Comm. Davidson&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emme Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>has the top seed in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Wilkes Central&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sarah Olson\u00a0<\/strong>also has two top seeds. The junior will be looking to complete the sprint freestyle double.<\/p>\n<p>Defending champion, Salisbury&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kathryn Morrison,\u00a0<\/strong>has the fastest entry in the 100 back. She&#8217;s also second seed in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Pine Lake Prep has the fastest times in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. The top seed in the 200 medley relay belongs to Lake Norman Charter.<\/p>\n<h2>Men<\/h2>\n<p>Croatan looks to make a mark on the state meet this year, holding the top seed in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay. The school&#8217;s senior\u00a0<strong>John David McCray\u00a0<\/strong>is the second seed in the 200 free, just behind North Davidson senior\u00a0<strong>John Day<\/strong>. Day has an interesting event pairing, swimming the 50 freestyle where he is also the top seed. East Carteret freshman\u00a0<strong>Jackson Nowacek\u00a0<\/strong>is the\u00a0fastest entrant\u00a0in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>McCray is also the 500 free second seed. There Newton-Conover&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ross Dant\u00a0<\/strong>leads the way by 11 seconds. The junior and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hs-junior-national-jr-teamer-ross-dant-stays-in-state-with-verbal-to-wolfpack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NC State commit<\/a> is also entered in the 100 backstroke where he is the second seed.<\/p>\n<p>Croatan has a top seed in\u00a0<strong>James Reindl<\/strong>. The senior leads the way in the 100 breaststroke, just a tenth faster than Raleigh Charter&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jason Starbuck<\/strong>.
