THIS is Streamlined News for February 2, 2012 presented by Swimoutlet.com The Web&#39;s most popular swim shop. <\/p>\n<p>Australian distance star Kieren Perkins is in the news again today, this time criticizing Ian Thorpe&#39;s travel regimen. Just yesterday, we reported that Perkins had blasted Swimming Australia for pushing its young talent too hard in their early years, but his suggestions for Thorpe were not so heated. Perkins believes that Thorpe shouldn&#39;t be consistently traveling far and wide to race and should instead focus on nearby meets. Thorpe, says Perkins, doesn&#39;t need to deal with the time it takes to travel to various meets and the ensuing recovery time to adjust to the timezone. Still, Perkins expressed confidence in Thorpe&#39;s work with Gennadi Touretski headed into Australia&#39;s Olympic Trials in March.<\/p>\n<p>Dirk Lange has joined forces with Mexico as its head swim coach for the next five years. Lange worked in the same position in South Africa from 2005 to 2008 and then in Germany for the past three years. Lange left Germany on mutual terms after disagreements with the federation and swimmers, and he now plans on helping coaches develop Mexican athletes in the lead-up to the 2017 World Championships in Guadalajara. Lange says that he sees potential in Mexican swimmers, but he does not expect to see exceptional results quickly.<\/p>\n<p>On the college scene, UNC Asheville has brought on board a new women&#39;s head coach.  Elizabeth Lykins, former assistant coach at Florida Gulf Coast University, is excited to lead the lady Bulldogs this season.<\/p>\n<p>The College Swim Coaches Association has also released the final 2011-2012 NCAA Division II Dual Meet polls. The Grand Canyon men and the UC San Diego women stood atop the final spots heading into the championship season.
