Both match-ups were senior day celebrations for the host teams.<\/p>\n<h3>Texas Women Finish Undefeated, Men Post Strong Marks<\/h3>\n<p>The men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming and diving teams from University of Texas defeated Texas Christian University on their senior day celebration. The\u00a0women&#8217;s meet ended in\u00a0a score of\u00a0162-105, which marked the team&#8217;s first undefeated season in 30 years. The men&#8217;s meet ended with a Texas victory in a score of 159-108.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas men completed the meet by winning all 15 events, starting with the 200 medley relay where the Longhorns posted a swift time of 1:28.81.<\/p>\n<p>Texas would go on to sweep the 200 free with freshman JohnThomas Larson posting a 1:37.57 with his fellow freshman, <strong>Sam<\/strong> <strong>Pomajevich<\/strong>, who swam a 1:39.84, touched second. Junior <strong>Jeff Newkirk<\/strong> went on to win the 100 backstroke in 47.85 while his teammate <strong>Sam Kline<\/strong> took second in 48.80.<\/p>\n<p>The Longhorn men continued to roll over TCU and unexpectedly so in the breaststroke events. <strong>Casey Melzer<\/strong> touched first in the 100 breast in a 54.30 while sophomore backstroke specialist <strong>Ryan Harty<\/strong> nabbed second in 55.36.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s meet, junior <strong>Joanna Evans<\/strong> took the win in the first individual event of the meet, the 200 free, in a time of 1:46.44.<\/p>\n<p>Lady Longhorn <strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> was apart of the\u00a0winning 200 medley relay which opened the meet, which set her up for a second place finish in the 100 backstroke, behind teammate <strong>Kaitlin Harty<\/strong> who won the race in 55.00. Harty would go on to sweep the backstroke events by posting a 1:57.13 in the 200 back, which was good enough for win.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Victoria Edwards<\/strong> led the Longhorns to a 1-2 finish in the 200 fly with her swift time of 2:02.52 while her freshman classmate, <strong>Grace Ritch<\/strong>, took second in a time of 2:07.56.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Longhorn Junior <strong>Brooke Hansen<\/strong> led the ladies to a victory in the 200 breast with her time of 2:16.01, freshman up-and-comer <strong>Maxine<\/strong> <strong>Wolters<\/strong> touched second in 2:20.85.<\/p>\n<p>The ladies didn&#8217;t let up into the distance freestyle events either with freshmen swimmers <strong>Logan Shiller<\/strong> and <strong>Peyton Quattlebuam<\/strong> producing a 1-2 finish in the 500 free.<\/p>\n<p><dfn><\/dfn><strong>Claire Adams<\/strong>\u00a0notched a victory in the 100\u00a0fly with her swift time of\u00a052.87 with her freshman\u00a0teammate <strong>Emily Reese<\/strong> took second in a time of 54.42.<\/p>\n<p>To finish the meet, Junior <strong>Quinn Carrozza<\/strong> nabbed a win in the 200 IM\u00a0with a quick 2:02.31.<\/p>\n<p>For complete results, click <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/texassports_com\/documents\/2018\/2\/2\/ut_vs_tcu_results_pdf.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Up next for both the Longhorns and the Horned Frogs will be the Big 12 Conference Championships on\u00a0February 21st.<\/p>\n<h3>Kansas Narrowly Edges Iowa State<\/h3>\n<p>The Iowa State Cyclones hosted the Jayhawks from Kansas University for a two-day dual, ultimately falling to the Jayhawks with a score of\u00a0178.5-121.5.<\/p>\n<p>The Cyclones only notched\u00a0two wins against the Jayhawks across the whole meet, but their\u00a0two wins\u00a0were\u00a0impressive. Senior <strong>Mary Kate<\/strong> <strong>Luddy<\/strong> was able to hold off the rest of the field in the 100 fly, which capped off her final meet at the Beyer Pool in Ames, Iowa. Luddy&#8217;s time was a swift 55.95, ahead of KU&#8217;s <strong>Haley Bishop<\/strong> who swam a 56.42 for second. Luddy also won the 200 fly on day one of the meet in a time of 2:02.76 ahead of the Jayhawk&#8217;s <strong>Ellie Flanagan<\/strong> who touched second in a time of 2:03.97.<\/p>\n<p>Kansas was able to secure wins in both relays. In the 200 medley relay the team of <strong>Manon Manning<\/strong>, <strong>Haley Downey<\/strong>, Bishop and <strong>Lauryn Parrish<\/strong> put together a time of 1:45.00.
