The Iowa men won, 127-75, while the women finished ahead of Western Illinois, 128-65.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\"><strong>Jacob Rosenkoetter, Tanner Nelson, Michal Brzus<\/strong> and <strong>Ben Colin<\/strong> touched in first in the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:25.33 to begin things on the men&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Sophomore<strong> Michael Tenney<\/strong> then touched in first in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.28, Tenney also won the 100 free with a season-best time of 46.05.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Freshman <strong>Daniel Swanepoel<\/strong> won the 100 IM (51.56) and 50 breast (26.23). Sophomore<strong> Joe Myhre<\/strong> won the 50 free with a time of 20.43, before senior J<strong>erzy Twarowski<\/strong> won the 50 fly with a time of 21.47.\u00a0<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Junior <strong>Kenneth Mende<\/strong> won the 50 back with a time of 22.76, before freshman <strong>Tom Schab<\/strong> posted a season-best in the 500 free with a time of 4:41.25 to win the event.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">In the diving well, junior <strong>Will Brenner<\/strong> won the 1-meter springboard competition with a zone-standard and season-best of 355.35. Freshman <strong>Anton Hoherz<\/strong> won the 3-meter with a zone-standard score of 377.00<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">The Hawkeyes closed out the men\u2019s side with a win in the 200-free relay, the quartet of Brzus, <strong>Matt Kamin<\/strong>, Mende, and Jack Smith posted a time of 1:21.03 to solidify the win.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>For the women, the relay team of <strong>Samantha Sauer, Sage Ohlehsehlen, Summer Campbell <\/strong>and <strong>Lauren Leehy<\/strong> won the 400-medley relay to set the pace for the Hawkeyes, touching in at 3:53.16.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Senior <strong>Meghan Lavelle<\/strong> won the 200 free with a time of 1:53.61, before <strong>Allyssa Fluit, Izzie Bindseil<\/strong> and <strong>Abbey Schneider<\/strong> finished 1-2-3 in the 100 IM. Fluit won the event with a time of 59.84.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Freshman <strong>Sarah Schemmel<\/strong> won the 50 free with a time of 24.10. Senior<strong> Jo Jekel<\/strong> won the 50 fly with a time of 25.37, before winning the 50 back, touching in at 26.36.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Sauer won the 100 free for the Hawkeyes, touching in at 51.95. Senior <strong>Carly O\u2019Brien<\/strong> paced the Hawkeyes in the 500 free, touching in first with a time of 5:01.27.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">In the diving well, freshman <strong>Jayah Mathews<\/strong> won the 1-meter with a zone-standard score of 284.65, before winning the 3-meter with another zone-standard of 315.60.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"m_6506857143211432839MsoNoSpacing\">Penn State sweeps Villanova<\/h3>\n<p>The Penn State men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming &amp; diving teams were both victorious over Villanova in a regular season-concluding dual meet, as the men won, 186-105, and the women won 163-127, Friday evening in McCoy Natatorium.<\/p>\n<p>The Penn State men (2-7) claimed the top placing in each even until swimming the final three events as exhibitions, while the women (2-7) claimed all but three events before swimming the final three as exhibitions as well.<\/p>\n<p>The Nittany Lions had some of their biggest performances on the boards. Freshman <strong>Emma Hellmann<\/strong> (283.88), senior <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopsusports.com\/sports\/w-swim\/mtt\/mckayla_mawn_912592.html\">McKayla Mawn<\/a> <\/strong>(277.65) and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopsusports.com\/sports\/w-swim\/mtt\/kamryn_umbel_1055402.html\">Kamryn Umbel<\/a><\/strong> (273.74) finished 1-2-3 in the women&#8217;s 1-meter springboard, with all scoring above the NCAA Zone Regional qualification score. Umbel (285.89), <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopsusports.com\/sports\/w-swim\/mtt\/christina_crowell_1025944.html\">Christina Crowell<\/a> <\/strong>(280.27) and Mawn (263.77) also finished 1-2-3 in the 3-meter, with Umbel and Crowell scoring above the Zone standard.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, senior <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopsusports.com\/sports\/m-swim\/mtt\/connor_scanlon_921324.html\">Connor Scanlon<\/a><\/strong> set personal bests in the 1-meter (354.59) and 3-meter (358.20). His 1-meter score was good enough to claim the event over teammate Hector Garcia-Boissier (348.15), but Garcia edged Scanlon in the 3-meter with a score of 370.50.<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopsusports.com\/sports\/m-swim\/mtt\/jack_crow_983621.html\">Jack Crow<\/a> <\/strong>was third in both events, scoring 313.27 in the 1-meter and 333.52 in the 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>Scanlon and Mawn were not the only seniors to have a successful Senior Night. Niki Price claimed the women&#8217;s 100 back (55.89) and posted the top time in the 100 fly (55.34) and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopsusports.com\/sports\/w-swim\/mtt\/emily_harris_948410.html\">Emily Harris<\/a><\/strong> posted the top time in the 200 IM (2:06.03). <strong>Ryan O&#8217;Neill<\/strong> touched first in the men&#8217;s 50 free (21.03)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Iowa swimming and diving team closed out the dual portion of its schedule, sweeping Western Illinois at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center on Friday night.
