{"id":294083,"date":"2018-01-31T19:00:03","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T02:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=294083"},"modified":"2018-02-02T18:48:59","modified_gmt":"2018-02-03T01:48:59","slug":"towson-makes-a-clean-sweep-of-caa-weekly-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/towson-makes-a-clean-sweep-of-caa-weekly-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Towson Makes A Clean Sweep Of CAA Weekly Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Towson earned a clean sweep for\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1841393414\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Wednesday\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0announcement of the latest Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) weekly swimming and diving awards as junior\u00a0<strong>Jack Saunderson<\/strong>\u00a0and freshman\u00a0<strong>Will Canny<\/strong>\u00a0took home the respective Men\u2019s Swimmer and Diver honors, while sophomore\u00a0<strong>Annemarie Schnoor<\/strong>\u00a0was named Women\u2019s Swimmer of the Week and junior\u00a0<strong>Emily Wilson<\/strong>\u00a0picked up Women\u2019s Diver of the Week recognition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEN\u2019S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Jack Sanderson\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u2022<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Towson<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<strong>Junior<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0<strong>|<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Laurel, Md.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Saunderson\u2019s fourth weekly award of the 2017-18 season comes after the junior recorded a first and second place individual finish as well as a pair of team relay wins as the Tigers defeated Loyola Maryland in a mid-week meet on Jan. 24. He won the 200-yard butterfly with an NCAA B cut time of 1:47.35 \u2013 which ranks second in the CAA for the event this season behind his own top performance. Saunderson finished second in the 500 free and also swam a leg on TU\u2019s winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEN\u2019S DIVER OF THE WEEK:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Will Canny\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u2022<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Towson<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Freshman<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>|<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Havertown, Pa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the second straight week and third time this season, Canny heard his named called as the Diver of the Week. The freshman performed well on both boards, grabbing gold on the 1-meter (264.45) and silver on the 3-meter (261.68) in helping his team to a victory over Loyola.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WOMEN\u2019S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Annemarie Schnoor\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u2022<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Towson<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<strong>Sophomore<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0<strong>| Redbank, N.J.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Schnoor\u2019s first career weekly CAA honor follows the Tigers\u2019 mid-week win at Loyola in their final dual-meet of the season. The sophomore won both the 100 (52.93) and 200 free (1:56.91) and was one of nine different Tigers who earned an individual win in the victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WOMEN\u2019S DIVER OF THE WEEK:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Emily Wilson\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u2022<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Towson<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<strong>Junior<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0<strong>|<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Middletown, N.Y.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wilson shined in TU\u2019s mid-week win en route to winning her second weekly award of the season. The junior swept both diving boards versus Loyola, capturing the 1-meter with a score of 257.40 before responding with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 285.60 on the 3-meter.
