Zhao (2:09.88) also edged Scott (2:10.51) in the 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> won the 1000 freestyle in 9:15.96, 30 seconds ahead of runner-up <strong>Brooke Forde<\/strong>. Ledecky also won the 200 freestyle (1:43.24) finishing ahead of USC&#8217;s <strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> (1:46.21). Ledecky also won the 500 freestyle (4:36.61).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Janet Hu<\/strong> (52.24) and <strong>Ally Howe<\/strong> (52.60) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke. <strong>Ella Eastin<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly (1:54.59) and 200 IM (1:56.26). <strong>Erin Voss<\/strong> (1:54.21) and Howe (1:54.56) went 1-2 in the 200 back. <strong>Abby Gardner<\/strong> won 1-meter diving (291.30). Hu won the 100 butterfly (52.81). <strong>Haley Farnsworth<\/strong> won 3-meter diving (326.85).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> (48.13) held off Hansson (49.40) in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Howe, Zhao, Hu and Manuel won the 200 medley relay (1:37.79). Hu, <strong>Lauren Green<\/strong>, Ledecky and Manuel won the 500 free relay (3:15.71).<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s <strong>Marta Ciesla<\/strong> won the 50 freestyle (22.55) finishing ahead of Manuel (22.82).<\/p>\n<h3>Cal tops UCLA, remains unbeaten<\/h3>\n<p>The No. 5 Cal women extended their dual-meet record to a perfect 9-0 on the season with a 183-111 victory at UCLA Saturday as the Golden Bears won 15 of 16 events on the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen different Bears earned a first-place finish in individual events, with junior <strong>Amy Bilquist<\/strong> prevailing twice \u2013 in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle. Cal also won both the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kathleen Baker, Abbey Weitzeil, Maddie Murphy<\/strong> and Bilquist touched first in the opening 200 medley relay in 1:39.85. <strong>Chenoa Devine<\/strong> then won the 1000 free in 9:58.33 before Bilquist took first in the 200 free in 1:47.06. In the 100 back, Baker (53.62) led a 1-2-3 Cal finish, as teammates <strong>Keaton Blovad<\/strong> (54.93) and <strong>Sophie Krivokapic-Zhou<\/strong> (55.55) touched in succession.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ali Harrison<\/strong> earned a victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.14, along with<strong> Noemie Thomas<\/strong> in the 200 butterfly (1:57.88), Weitzeil in the 50 free (22.85) and <strong>Phoebe LaMay<\/strong> on the 3-meter springboard (305.93) to complete the first half of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>After a break, Bilquist came through in the 100 free in 49.34 and Blovad reached the wall first in the 200 back (1:58.95). Harrison just missed her second win, falling 0.15 behind UCLA&#8217;s <strong>Emma Schanz<\/strong> in the 200 breast (2:15.16).<\/p>\n<p>However, the Bears won the next four individual events \u2014 <strong>Robin Neumann<\/strong> in the 500 free (4:54.28), Katie McLaughlin in the 100 fly (53.47), <strong>Briana Thai<\/strong> on the 1-meter board (288.08) and <strong>Sarah Darcel<\/strong> in the 400 IM (4:16.82).<\/p>\n<p>Murphy, McLaughlin, Bilquist and Weitzeil closed things out with a time of 1:30.95 to win the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<h3>Arizona edged by Texas<\/h3>\n<p>Arizona fell short against No. 2\/4 Texas this afternoon. The final score for the men, 143-155, and women, 120-179. The Cats notched eight total victories, four from the women and four from the men. Hannah Cox contributed two of those wins. <strong>Brooks Fail, Kirsten Jacobsen, Matthew Salerno, Katrina Konopka, Chatham Dobbs<\/strong> and <strong>Nick Thorne<\/strong> all added one win each.<\/p>\n<p>To open the meet, the women&#8217;s A 200 medley relay team placed, with 1:41.65. The men placed second (1:29.11) and third (1:31.67).<\/p>\n<p>Cox handly won the 1,000 free for the women with 9:52.27. Fail (9:14.32) was also victorious, with<strong> Jerad Kaskawal<\/strong> (9:20.79) in second and <strong>Chris Wieser<\/strong> (9:24.49) in fourth for the men.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobsen (1:48.28) won the 200 free for the women and Parks Jones (1:39.06) took second for the men. <strong>Cameron McHugh<\/strong> (1:50.31) and Jorge Iga (1:39.92) each place third.<\/p>\n<p>Salerno won the 100 breast for the men with 56.24. <strong>Mallory Korenwinder<\/strong> and <strong>Sam Iida<\/strong> both finished second, with 1:02.60 and 56.76, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Konopka won the 50 free with 22.97.<\/p>\n<p>Cox won her second race of the day in the 500 free with 4:51.17.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/big-12-saturday-recap-texas-women-continue-perfect-season-men-bounce-back\/\">Check out more from this meet here. <\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Utah sweeps BYU<\/h3>\n<p>The Utah women defeated BYU 210-90, while the men won 210-89.<\/p>\n<p>The Utes dominated the Cougars behind multiple wins from<strong> Jordan Anderson, Dorien Butter<\/strong> and <strong>Genny Robertson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Butter started things off by winning the 200 free (1:51.09) and added a victory in the 100 free (51.61). Anderson was the big winner with three top results in the 200 back (2:05.78), 200 IM (2:07.65) and 200 fly (2:05.02).<\/p>\n<p>Robertson won the 100 breast (1:04.23), 200 breast (2:19.38) and swam the second leg of the victorious 200 medley relay. Robertson teamed with <strong>Emma Broome, Gillian St. John<\/strong> and <strong>Jenna Marsh<\/strong> to win the event with a time of 1:43.84.<\/p>\n<p>Broome also won the 100 fly (57.97) and was second in the 100 back, while St. John won the 50 free (24.01) and was second in the 100. Marsh also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n<p>Other individual winners for Utah included <strong>Sara McClendon<\/strong> in the 1000 free (10:25.85), <strong>Mandy Gebhart<\/strong> in the 500 free (5:06.98) and <strong>Emma Ruchala<\/strong> in the 3-meter dive (291.68).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Ungur<\/strong> led the Utah men, winning the 100 fly (49.55) and 100 back (47.47), while also swimming the lead lap on the victorious 200 medley and 400 free relays.<\/p>\n<p>He was one of four Utes to win multiple events against BYU. <strong>Jack Burton<\/strong>, who was also in the 200 medley relay, also won the 100 breast (56.37) and 200 breast (2:06.25). <strong>Rahiti De Vos<\/strong> win the 200 free (1:40.43) and 500 free (4:38.77) while <strong>Daniel McArthur<\/strong> captured the 200 back (1:51.54) and 200 IM (1:53.26) after taking second in 100 back.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ben Scott<\/strong> and <strong>Rodolfo Moreira<\/strong> also competed in the 200 medley relay and won individual events. Scott took the 200 fly in 1:50.28 and Moreira was the winner in the 50 free with a time of 20.91.\u00a0 The other two winners for Utah today were <strong>Matteo Sogne<\/strong> in the 1000 free (9:36.55) and <strong>Nathan Makarewicz<\/strong> in the one-meter diving event (342.00).<\/p>\n<h3>Oregon St. falls to Idaho<\/h3>\n<p>The Oregon State University swimming program got five individual event wins from three swimmers on Saturday against Idaho at the UI Swim Center, but the Beavers fell short as the Vandals took the dual at 174-86.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore <strong>Felicia Anderson<\/strong> took the top spot on the podium in the 100 and 200 back, junior transfer <strong>Arianna Letrari<\/strong> bested all others in the 200 free and 100 fly, and freshman <strong>Riley Neal<\/strong> recorded her first collegiate event win in the 500 free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Dan D&#8217;Addona.
