{"id":292400,"date":"2018-01-17T10:15:14","date_gmt":"2018-01-17T17:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=292400"},"modified":"2018-02-07T15:50:09","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T22:50:09","slug":"sec-weekly-preview-florida-auburn-tennessee-georgia-lead-packed-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sec-weekly-preview-florida-auburn-tennessee-georgia-lead-packed-week\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC Weekly Preview: Florida-Auburn, Tennessee-Georgia Lead Packed Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SEC has had some pretty good rivalries so far this season.<\/p>\n<p>This week will see a few more, but also a jam-packed week of meets with every team in action.<\/p>\n<p>The first big meet is a non-conference meet as Alabama hosts Ohio State on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Arkansas and Vanderbilt swim at Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Then comes Saturday, which is one of the busiest days of the year for any conference.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee competes at Georgia in a rivalry meet. Meanwhile, the No. 1 Aggies (women) swim at LSU.<\/p>\n<p>Auburn and Florida renew their rivalry, while Missouri faces Missouri State in a non-conference battle.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina also hosts Georgia Tech and Kentucky swims at Louisivlle.<\/p>\n<p>The Arkansas-Vanderbilt-Houston meet also has a second day on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>That is a ton of swimming to keep track of for one conference. Each meet brings an interesting nugget that could prove to be pivotal when the SEC Championships arrive.<\/p>\n<p>Auburn\u2019s <strong>Hugo Gonzalez<\/strong> is coming off of an impressive performance last week. He won all three individual events in which he entered during Auburn\u2019s dual meet with No. 2 and was named the SEC Freshman of the Week.<\/p>\n<p>During Monday\u2019s dual meet the Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain, native tied Texas\u2019 <strong>Ryan Harty<\/strong> for the top spot in the 100 back in 47.85, his second win in the event this season. He then returned to complete his stroke sweep, winning the 200 back in 1:42.98 to again best Harty.<\/p>\n<p>The freshman was not done there, topping all challengers in the 400 IM with a time of 3:48.02, marking the fourth time this season he has won the event and the third time this year he has won three individual events at a meet.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, it was a banner week for the Dressel family in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Caeleb and <a href=\"http:\/\/floridagators.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10480\">Sherridon Dressel<\/a> each garnered SEC Swimmer of the Week honors for their performances this past weekend, as the league announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/floridagators.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10437\">Caeleb Dressel<\/a> recorded six individual victories over the weekend and Sherridon followed closely with five of her own.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday will be Caeleb\u2019s senior day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The SEC has had some pretty good rivalries so far this season.
