BOULDER, Colorado, January 8. MANY college teams kicked off the 2012 portions of their schedules this weekend amidst heavy holiday training. <\/p>\n

The Kansas women were victorious against La Salle and St. Michael's in Puerto Rico, while Wyoming, New Hampshire and the University of Colorado competed at the Citrus Classic in Mesa, Arizona, where the Cowboys and Cowgirls swam away with a win. <\/p>\n

Other teams earned their first dual meet wins of 2012 in their home pools. The Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs duked it out in Austin in a battle of two top-five ranked teams. Texas emerged victorious on both the men's and women's sides. Jimmy Feigen sprinted to wins in the 50 and 100 free (19.94, 45.02), Neil Caskey won the 200 fly (1:47.90) and Eric Friedland took the 100 breast (55.47).<\/p>\n

Karlee Bispo (50 free, 22.91; 100 free, 49.52; 200 free, 1:46.73) and Laura Sogar (100 breast, 1:01.86; 200 breast, 2:13.00) posted wins for the lady Longhorns.<\/p>\n

In an exciting Big Ten matchup, Indiana and Michigan faced off in Ann Arbor, with the Wolverines snaring the dual meet win. Richard Funk and Connor Jaeger each won two events for the Michigan men with Funk touching first in the 100 breast (56.32) and 200 breast (2:02.64) and Jaeger racing to wins in the 200 free (1:38.36) and 500 free (4:27.43).<\/p>\n

Angela Chokran picked up key victories in the 100 breast (1:03.51) and 200 breast (2:17.03) and Caitlin Dauw contributed two first place finishes in the 200 fly (2:00.09) and 100 fly (54.26) for the Michigan women.<\/p>\n
