There is no current plan for rescheduling. The cancellation comes as a result of the mudslides in the community of Montecito, California.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This is not the first time the events have related\u00a0to the swimming world as\u00a0legend <strong>Jeff Farrell<\/strong> was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swimming-legend-jeff-farrell-rescued-by-son-in-california-mudslide\/\" target=\"_blank\">saved from the mudslides by his son<\/a> on Jan. 11. Additionally, this is the second aquatic-related cancellation because of natural disasters in the last month. In December, USA Water Polo matches were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-water-polo-matches-rescheduled-in-view-of-thomas-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\">rescheduled because of the Thomas Fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">UNLV Release<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">LAS VEGAS &#8211;\u00a0The UNLV men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming and diving team&#8217;s dual meets schedule for\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_178107420\"><span class=\"aQJ\">this Friday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_178107421\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at UC Santa Barbara have been cancelled, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The meets were originally scheduled for\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_178107422\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0afternoon and\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_178107423\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0morning, but have been called off due to the mudslides in Montecito, which has resulted in the closure of the 101 freeway to Santa Barbara.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">UNLV&#8217;s next scheduled meet will now be a tri-meet involving Air Force and the women&#8217;s squad from Nevada, Reno on\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_178107424\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 am<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in the Jim Reitz Pool at Buchanan Natatorium on the UNLV campus.<\/span><\/div>\n<h3>UCSB Release<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>SANTA BARBARA, Calif. &#8211;\u00a0Due to the closure of the 101 freeway as a result of the mudslides in Montecito, the originally scheduled dual-meet set for Friday and Saturday between UNLV and UCSB has been canceled. As of now, there are no plans to reschedule.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of the meet, the Gauchos will hold a Blue-Gold intrasquad scrimmage at Campus Pool at 11am.<\/p>\n<p>The Gaucho men, reigning Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) champions, will return to action at Pacific next Saturday, Jan. 20 while the women will squeeze in a dual-meet against UC Davis on Friday, Jan. 19 before also competing against Pacific on Jan. 20.<\/p>\n<p>Both the men and women will host Cal Poly in a Blue-Green Rivalry meet at Campus Pool on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 11:00 a.m. in what will serve as a final tune-up for the MPSF Championships, set to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 14 hosted by East Los Angeles College.<\/p>\n<p><em>Press releases courtesy of UNLV and UCSB Athletics.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The dual meet scheduled between the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of California, Santa Barbara on Jan. 12 has been cancelled.
