This Friday and Saturday, the Virginia Cavaliers will visit the Virginia Tech Hokies in Christiansburg in the second of the\u00a0big in-state rivalry meets, after last week’s Florida State-Florida clash, and that’s the highlight of the ACC swimming and diving schedule for the MLK weekend.<\/p>\n

The Cavalier women, coming off their first loss at the conference championships in more than a decade in 2017, are undefeated so far this dual meet season, with wins over Louisville and Tennessee already under their belt. Realistically, UVA’s ladies, led by seniors Jen Marrkand\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Caitlin Cooper<\/strong>,\u00a0won’t get a challenge this week — but that could change soon with reigning ACC champion NC State coming to town the following week.<\/p>\n

The men’s meet should be interesting as teams begin to sort themselves out behind NC State in the conference. Virginia Tech has put together a strong year but did lose to North Carolina back in November<\/a>, while UVA dropped recent dual meets to both Louisville and Tennessee. Virginia’s men were ranked 21st in the latest CSCAA poll<\/a>, while Virginia Tech just missed the top 25.<\/p>\n

But aside from that meet, there’s only one intra-conference matchup this weekend, as Miami’s women and divers will\u00a0join in on the Alabama-Florida State dual meet in Tallahassee. The Crimson Tide should be an excellent measuring stick for the Seminoles, with the men having finished in the top ten at the NCAA championships each of the past several years. In the most recent CSCAA poll, the Alabama men ranked two spots ahead of Florida States (17 and 19, respectively), while the Alabama women were 20th with FSU receiving votes.<\/p>\n

The Seminoles will welcome Notre Dame next weekend for a two-day meet, but before that, head coach\u00a0Mike Litzinger’s\u00a0<\/strong>teams will face Illinois and Iowa in Champaign, Ill.<\/p>\n

Finally, NC State has big meets on the horizon (at UVA next week, at UNC the week after), but before that, a squad of Wolfpack swimmers will be in Austin for the first stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n
