McPherson put on a diving clinic in the one meter and three-meter diving competitions to come away with a pair of golds on day one of the triangular meet against Kentucky and Toledo.<\/p>\n<p>The Buckeyes lead Kentucky 79-71 and Toledo 127-22. The OSU men trail Kentucky 76-74.<\/p>\n<p>McPherson scored more than 300 points in each of her events. She started the afternoon off with a win on the one-meter with a tally of 305.60 and closed out the day with gold on three meter with a combo score of 302.00. Joining McPherson as a champion on the diving boards was <strong>Stephen Romanik<\/strong>. A native of Northfield, Ohio, Romanik scored a six-dive score of 337.05 for the title on the three-meter board.<\/p>\n<p>In the swimming pool, a pair of Buckeyes swept the top spots in the 200 butterfly. <strong>Meg Bailey<\/strong> used a readout of 1:58.37 to glide to a first-place finish for the women, and on the men\u2019s side,<strong> Henrique Painhas<\/strong> (1:48.42) edged teammate <strong>Michael Salazar<\/strong> (1:48.82) for the win.<\/p>\n<p>For Kentucky, senior<strong> Isaac Jones<\/strong> picked up the first victory of the day, winning the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 15:16.04.<\/p>\n<p>A big performance on men&#8217;s 3-meter resulted in a 1-2-3 sweep for Kentucky, led by freshman <strong>Chase Lane<\/strong> who recorded a personal-best score of 384.30. Sophomore <strong>Kevin Frebel<\/strong> was second in the event with a 351.15 and senior <strong>Stephen Jou<\/strong> third with a score of 340.75.<\/p>\n<p>Three sophomores from the men&#8217;s team picked up wins on Friday. <strong>Connor Blandford<\/strong> earned a victory in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall with at time of 1:48.23. <strong>Jason Head<\/strong> went 45.04 in the 100 freestyle to edge out Ohio State&#8217;s <strong>Nathan Christian<\/strong> by .03 seconds. <strong>Glen Brown<\/strong> rounded out the UK victories, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:00.63.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ali Galyer<\/strong> won the 200 backstroke. The sophomore turned in a time of 1:54.44, just ahead of her teammate <strong>Bridgette Alexander<\/strong> who was second in 1:56.93.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore<strong> Asia Seidt<\/strong> picked up a big win in the 100 freestyle, going an NCAA &#8216;B&#8217; cut time of 49.24.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky continued to see success in the women&#8217;s breaststroke events as freshman<strong> Bailey Bonnett<\/strong> led the Wildcats in a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 breast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ohio State freshman diver Camryn McPherson had the best performance of her young and bright Buckeye career on Friday evening at the Lancaster Aquatic Pavilion in Lexington, Ky.
