{"id":290863,"date":"2018-01-03T17:40:37","date_gmt":"2018-01-04T00:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=290863"},"modified":"2018-01-03T17:40:37","modified_gmt":"2018-01-04T00:40:37","slug":"pac-12-conference-releases-first-swimming-diving-awards-for-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pac-12-conference-releases-first-swimming-diving-awards-for-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Pac-12 Conference Releases First Swimming &#038; Diving Awards For 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h3>Pac-12 Men&#8217;s Swimming &amp; Diving Weekly Awards<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>The Conference office announced today that\u00a0<strong>Justin Lynch<\/strong>\u00a0of CALIFORNIA\u00a0was named Pac-12 Men&#8217;s Swimmer of the Month and USC&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dashiell Enos<\/strong>\u00a0was voted Pac-12 Men\u2019s Diver of the Month for December.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s Swimmer of the Month: Justin Lynch, Sr., California<\/strong><br \/>\nCalifornia senior Lynch swam on four winning relays at the Georgia Fall Invitational to help the Golden Bears win the team title with 1,014 points over Michigan (915) and the host Bulldogs (674). Lynch (Vallejo, Calif.) won the 100-yard freestyle with 42.01 seconds and set the second-fastest time in the nation so far this year that is only two-tenths of a second off the top mark. The time gives the upperclassman his \u2018A\u2019 qualifying time for the NCAA Championships. On Day 2, Lynch took second in the 100-yard butterfly clocking in at 45.51. Lynch competed in all four relays- 200 and 400 free, 200 and the 400 medley- and helped set the fastest time in the country this year in all four events. With a weekend sweep of relays, the 400 medley also earned an \u2018A\u2019 cut for the postseason with a time of 2:48.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diver of the Month: Dashiell Enos, So., USC<\/strong><br \/>\nUSC senior Enos (Studio City, Calif.) competed in the Utah Diving Invitational\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1948489640\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Dec. 1-2<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and took home first in the 1-meter springboard with 353.10 points. The returning NCAA All-American and 2017 Pac-12 Diver of the Year also finished second the in the 3-meter springboard (402.55). At the USA Diving Winter Nationals, the Trojan duo of Enos\u00a0and sophomore Henry Fusaro won bronze on the 3-meter synchronized with 730.02 points. Over the week-long meet, Enos finished fifth in the 1-meter springboard final (621.50) and seventh in the 3-meter springboard (1083.55).<\/p>\n<p>All-session passes for the 2018 Pac-12 Women\u2019s Swimming and Men\u2019s\/Women\u2019s Diving Championships, as well as the Men\u2019s Swimming Championships are on sale to the general public and can be found\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pac12.pr-optout.com\/Tracking.aspx?Data=HHL%3d8285%3a4-%3eLCE2%3c-88A0-GLCE17.6&amp;RE=MC&amp;RI=4419515&amp;Preview=False&amp;DistributionActionID=66482&amp;Action=Follow+Link\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/Pac12.pr-optout.com\/Tracking.aspx?Data%3DHHL%253d8285%253a4-%253eLCE2%253c-88A0-GLCE17.6%26RE%3DMC%26RI%3D4419515%26Preview%3DFalse%26DistributionActionID%3D66482%26Action%3DFollow%2BLink&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1515111988024000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHzG8LQCQqprjRVjWMngfut9WFSeg\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Pac-12 Women&#8217;s Swimming &amp; Diving Weekly Awards<\/h3>\n<p>The Pac-12 Women\u2019s Swimming and Men\u2019s\/Women\u2019s Diving Championships (<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1948489641\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Feb. 21-24<\/span><\/span>) and the Pac-12 Men\u2019s Swimming Championships (<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1948489642\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Feb. 28-Mar. 3<\/span><\/span>) will be held at the Weyerhaeuser King Country Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The Conference office announced today that\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong>\u00a0of CALIFORNIA was named Pac-12 Women&#8217;s Swimmer of the Month and UCLA\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Eloise Belanger<\/strong>\u00a0was voted Pac-12 Women\u2019s Diver of the Month for December.<\/p>\n<p>Belanger (Montreal, QC, Canada) was the only diver at the Georgia Fall Invitational to notch top-4 finishes on each day. The junior won the 1-Meter competition on Day 1, leading with scores of 310.90 in the preliminary round and 320.45 in the final. No other diver topped the 300 mark on the day. Belanger wrapped up the three-day invite with a fourth-place finish in the 3-Meter contest (297.75 final round) and a third-place Platform performance (254.20).<\/p>\n<p>Weitzeil (Saugus, Calif.) won both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 free at the Georgia Fall Invitational, as well as helped four relays to wins. Her 21.44 prelim time in the 50 free is the fastest in the nation this year and her 45.95 time in the 100 free ranks second nationally and is the second fastest in school history.
