{"id":289412,"date":"2017-12-19T12:20:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T19:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=289412"},"modified":"2017-12-19T12:20:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T19:20:04","slug":"usa-diving-winter-nationals-wrap-up-in-greensboro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-diving-winter-nationals-wrap-up-in-greensboro\/","title":{"rendered":"USA Diving Winter Nationals Wrap Up in Greensboro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2017 USA Diving Winter National Championships came to a close\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1344941227\">Tuesday<\/span>\u00a0morning at the Greensboro Aquatic Center with two synchronized pairs named national champions.\u00a0<strong>Anne Fowler <\/strong>(Burke, Va.\/Alexandria Dive Club)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Carolina Sculti<\/strong> (Rye, N.Y.\/Marlins Diving Club)\u00a0secured gold in the women\u2019s synchronized 3-meter, while\u00a0<strong>Ryan Hawkins <\/strong>(Fort Lauderdale, Fla.\/Fort Lauderdale Diving Team)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Zach Cooper<\/strong> (Greenwood, Ind.\/University of Miami)\u00a0took the men\u2019s synchronized 10-meter crown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fowler and Sculti went into the final seeded first after amassing 266.25 points in the preliminary and added 268.05 points in the final to finish with a cumulative score of 534.30 points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s really nice to end on a good note and we trained together really hard before this,\u201d Sculti said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long week with ups and downs, but it\u2019s good ending the meet and diving like this, having everything pay off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sculti\u2019s words proved to be accurate as the duo saved their best dive of the final for last with a forward 2\u00bd somersault 1 twist pike worth 65.70 points.\u00a0<strong>Alison Gibson <\/strong>(Austin, Texas\/University of Texas)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Krysta Palmer<\/strong> (Carson City, Nev.\/Nevada Dive Club)\u00a0collected silver with 517.80 total points and\u00a0<strong>Daria Lenz<\/strong> (Altadena, Calif.\/SoCal Divers)\u00a0and Sculti completed the podium with 502.89 points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hawkins and Cooper were the lone pair in the men\u2019s synchronized 10-meter preliminary and were named national champions even though they scratched from the final. The posted a mark of 289.77 points in the preliminary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2017 USA Diving Winter National Championships crowned 10 national champions at the Greensboro Aquatic Center over the course of seven days.
