The 17-year-old set multiple world junior records over the course of the meet in the 50 free and 50 backstroke, but his most impressive swim had to be his gold medal swim in the 100 backstroke.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The young Russian broke his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kliment-kolesnikov-shatters-own-world-junior-record-in-100-back-semis\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">third world junior record of the meet in the semi-finals of the 100 backstroke<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, touching the wall in 49.25 to shave more than half a second off of his existing record, before coming back in finals <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kolesnikov-lowers-wjr-twice-in-two-days-at-sc-european-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to shave another quarter of a second off the record with a 48.99<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
