Schultz earned the top spot in the women\u2019s 3-meter event and Windle took the men\u2019s 10-meter contest. Schultz compiled a cumulative score of 912.25 to best the women\u2019s field and Windle crafted a collective mark of 1263.50 to lead the men.\u00a0<strong>Colin Zeng <\/strong>(Knoxville, Tenn.\/University of Tennessee)\u00a0scored 1283.55 in the men\u2019s 10-meter contest, but was not eligible to medal due to his international status.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schultz came into the women\u2019s 3-meter final as the top seed with a score of 601.10 points after the preliminary and semifinal rounds, holding a 48.45-point lead heading into the final.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNot matter what the margin is going into final, you know all the other girls are competitors and they\u2019re still going for it,\u201d Schultz said. \u201cYou have to be on your game and dive consistently to keep that lead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schultz showed the consistency by scoring 54.00 or more points on each of her dives in the final, including four worth 63.00 or more points. She posted a forward 3\u00bd somersault pike in round two that earned 66.65 points, her highest-scoring dive of the final. The Arkansas Razorback held off\u00a0<strong>Maria Coburn <\/strong>(Round Rock, Texas\/Longhorn Aquatics)\u00a0who took silver with 869.05 points, and\u00a0<strong>Krysta Palmer <\/strong>(Carson City, Nev.\/Nevada Dive Club)\u00a0came in third with 820.95 points. All three were members of the 2017 FINA World Championships team.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another member of that squad from Budapest took home hardware as Windle bested the men\u2019s 10-meter field. Zeng posted the top score, but international divers are not eligible to medal at USA Diving national championships.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing experience to comeback and dive for the USA and to get a national title again,\u201d Windle stated. \u201cI\u2019ve been working really hard and hopefully we keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windle constructed a final with three dives breaching the 70.00-point mark, including a back 2\u00bd somersault 2\u00bd twist pike worth 75.60 points in round six. The North Carolina native impressed in rounds three and four, going 72.15 (forward 4\u00bd somersault tuck) and 72.00 (armstand back 2 somersault 1\u00bd twist free).\u00a0<strong>Max Flory<\/strong> (Fairfax, Va.\/Dominion Dive Club)\u00a0finished second overall with 1063.50 points and\u00a0<strong>Zach Cooper <\/strong>(Greenwood, Ind.\/University of Miami)\u00a0earned bronze with 1060.75 points.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2017 USA Diving Winter National Championships continue through Tuesday, December 19 in Greensboro, N.C. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1785511397\">Tomorrow\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0events include the men\u2019s synchronized 3-meter preliminary and final and the women\u2019s synchronized 10-meter preliminary and final. Competition begins at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1785511398\">10:00 a.m. EST<\/span>.
