PHOENIX, Arizona, November 24. AROUND every holiday, we at Swimming World<\/i> usually begin to get some poetry submissions from various people within the swimming community. This year, one submitted by Tripp Montgomery, a coach at Carolina Aquatics Swim Club, submitted a poem written by Kelsey Green.<\/p>\n
Green is an 11-year-old rising star out of Columbia, S.C., who swims in Carolina Aquatics' state\/sectional group. She developed a poem around a Carolina Aquatics theme entitled "It's All In The Details."<\/p>\n
Drop my towel on the ground
\nAnd wait for the whistle,
\nSoon I will hear it come
\nThe whistle blows and I step on
\nThe blocks, my heart is pounding
\nAnd it just won't stop. The buzzer beeps
\nAnd I dive off the block and streamline
\nThrough the water like a bullet. I kick
\nAnd pull once I come up I flip at the wall
\nNeck and neck with my opponent. I repeat
\nThe same thing all over again but this time I
\nReach the red zone and put my head down,
\nI touch the wall before my
\nOpponent and hear the loud screams.
\nI throw my cap and goggles on the ground
\nFeeling very excited, I hug my opponent and tell them
\nGood job, everything seems to change.
\nI may have green hair but that doesn't matter,
\nI just won my race. I go to my coach and he tells me
