Russia’s Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> got the action in Copenhagen underway by posting the fastest time in the men’s 50m freestyle, earning him the\u00a0middle\u00a0lane in\u00a0tomorrow’s final. Morozov’s time of 20.45\u00a0also bettered the old championship record of 20.48 in the event, set by France’s Amaury Leveaux<\/strong> in 2008. The second fastest time of the semi-finals came from Britain’s Benjamin Proud<\/strong> in 20.70. The third spot went to Poland’s Pawel Juraszek<\/strong> with his 20.95. The Netherlands’ Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> earned herself a gold medal and a championship record in the process. Kromowidjojo’s time of 50.95, was the only sub-50 second time in the field and it dipped under her countrywoman, Inge Dekker’s<\/strong> old record of 51.35 set in 2009. Swedish sprit star Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> nabbed the silver in 51.03. Denmark’s Pernille Blume<\/strong> touched third in 51.63. Taking fourth was France’s Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> in 51.65 while Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> touched fifth in 51.93. Taking sixth was Marie Wattel<\/strong> in 52.25. Italy’s Simone Sabbioni<\/strong> swam a 49.68 for the silver while\u00a0Robert-Andrei Glinta\u00a0<\/b>out of Germany earned the bronze in 49.99. The Netherlands’ time lowers their own record which they set in Qatar in 2014. The Swedish squad of Michelle Coleman<\/strong>, Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong>, Louise Hansson<\/strong> and Natalie Lindborg<\/strong> turned in a time of 1:35.92 for the silver while Denmark’s team of\u00a0Emilie Beckmann<\/strong>, Mie Oe Nielsen<\/strong>, Julie Kepp Jensen<\/strong> and Pernille Blume\u00a0<\/strong>earned the bronze with their production of a 1:36.02. The Netherlands’ Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> earned herself a gold medal and a championship record in the process. Kromowidjojo’s time of 50.95, was the only sub-50 second time in the field and it dipped under her countrywoman, Inge Dekker’s<\/strong> old record of 51.35 set in 2009. Swedish sprit star Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> nabbed the silver in 51.03. Denmark’s Pernille Blume<\/strong> touched third in 51.63. Taking fourth was France’s Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> in 51.65 while Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> touched fifth in 51.93. Taking sixth was Marie Wattel<\/strong> in 52.25. Rounding out the finals heat was Federica Pelligrini out of Italy in 52.97 while Russia’s\u00a0Rozaliya\u00a0Nasretdinova\u00a0<\/b>touched eighth in 53.24.<\/p>\n Russia’s Kirill Progoda<\/strong> swam to a semi-final victory with\u00a0a 56.02 which dipped under the previous European record 56.16, set by his countryman Oleg Kostin<\/strong> earlier this year. Great Britain’s Adam Peaty<\/strong> turned in a 56.24 from heat one in the semi-finals while Dutchman Arno<\/strong> Kamminga<\/strong> earned the third spot from heat two in 56.60. Taking the final spot in tomorrow’s final was Nicolo’ Martinenghi<\/strong>, whose time of 57.60 just dips under the World Junior and European Junior record.<\/p>\n Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> earned her first win of the session by swimming a 2:01.59 ahead of Ukraine’s Daryna Zevina<\/strong> 2:02.27. The bronze went to Italy’s\u00a0Margherita Panziera\u00a0<\/b>with her time of 2:02.43. Britain’s Kathryn Greenslade<\/strong> and Hungary’s Kata<\/strong> Burian<\/strong> took fourth and fifth in 2:04.75 and 2:04.94, respectively. Taking sixth was Kira<\/strong> Toussaint<\/strong> out of the Netherlands in 2:05.55. Russia’s Anastasia Avdeeva<\/strong> touched seventh while Africa Zamorano Sanz<\/strong> took eighth.<\/p>\n Germany’s Philip Heintz<\/strong> earned gold in the men’s 200 I.M. by turning in a time of 1:52.41 while the silver went to Greece’s Andreas<\/strong> Vazaios<\/strong> in 1:53.27. The bronze was given to Norway’s Tomoe Zenimoto Hvas<\/strong> in a time of 1:54.16. Taking fourth was Portugal’s Diogo Felipe Carvalho<\/strong> in a 1:54.18. Touching in fifth was Israel’s Yakov Yan Toumarkin<\/strong> who swam a 1:54.66 while Kyle Stolk<\/strong> took sixth. Alexis Manacas Santos<\/strong> and Simon Sjoedin<\/strong> took seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n Germany’s Franziska Hentke<\/strong> swam a 2:03.92 to take the gold in the women’s 200m butterfly. Italy’s Ilaria Bianchi<\/strong> was right behind in 2:04.22 for the silver while France’s Lara Grangeon<\/strong> put together a 2:04.31 for the bronze. Taking fourth was Hungary’s Boglarka<\/strong> Kapas<\/strong> in 2:06.02 while the fifth spot was taken by Britain’s Charlotte Atkinson<\/strong> in 2:06.19. Touching sixth was Turkey’s Nida Eliz<\/strong> Ustundag<\/strong>. Rounding out the field was Lilian Szilagyi<\/strong> and Stefania Pirozzi<\/strong> in seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n Finland’s Jenna Laukkanen<\/strong> earned the middle lane in tomorrow’s final heat by edging out Lithuania’s Ruta Meilutyte<\/strong>, with her 1:04.89 to Meilutyte’s 1:04.95. Posting the third fastest time was Spain’s Jessica Vall Montero<\/strong>\u00a0with a 1:05.04. Taking the eighth spot in the semi-final was Ireland’s Mona McSharry<\/strong> in a 1:05.40.<\/p>\n After breaking the World Junior and European Junior records in yesterday’s semi-final, Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> lowered both those records yet again. This time the young backstroke star dipped under 49-seconds by swimming a 48.99. Italy’s Simone Sabbioni<\/strong> swam a 49.68 for the silver while\u00a0Robert-Andrei Glinta\u00a0<\/b>out of Germany earned the bronze in 49.99. Germany’s Christian Diener<\/strong> swam a 50.13 for fourth while the Polish pair of\u00a0Radoslaw Kawecki\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Kacper Stokowski\u00a0<\/b>touched in fifth and sixth respectively. Taking sixth and seventh was Austria’s Lena Kreundl<\/strong> and Finland’s Jenna Laukkanen<\/strong> while eighth went to Evelyn Verraszto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Ukraine’s Mykhaylo<\/strong> Romanchuk\u00a0<\/b>won the men’s mile in Copenhagen with a 14:14.59. Taking silver was Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri<\/strong> in 14:22.93 while Norway’s Henrik Christiansen<\/strong> took the bronze with a time of 14:25.66. In fourth was Denmark’s and N.C. State’s Anton Ipsen<\/strong> with a time of 14:30.94. Fifth and sixth went to Sweden’s Victor Johansson<\/strong> and The Czech Republic’s Jan Micka<\/strong>. Taking seventh was France’s Damien Joly<\/strong> while Hungary’s David Lakatos<\/strong> took eighth.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After winning his semi-final heat and lowering the championship record earlier in the session, Russia’s Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> took the gold and lowered the CR yet again by posting a 20.31. Britain’s Benjamin Proud<\/strong> swam a 20.66 for the silver while Italy’s Lucca Dotto<\/strong> earned the bronze with a time of 20.78. Coming in fourth and fifth was the Polish pair of\u00a0Pawel Juraszek\u00a0<\/strong>and Konrad Czerniak<\/strong> while Greece’s Kristian Gkolomeev and Russia’s Sergei Fesikov took sixth and seventh.
