SPRINGFIELD, Missouri, November 18. THE Drury University women's swimming and diving team leads the Drury Invite after the opening evening of action Friday at Breech Pool.<\/p>\n
The DU women have a comanding lead in the three team field with 400 points to second place Incarnate Word's 266 and Washington (Mo.) University who has 197.<\/p>\n
The Panther women captured two relay victories this evening with a first place finish in the 200 Free Relay (1:38.31) and a first place finish in the 400 Medley Relay (3:57.54). DU senior Erin Dolan took top honors in the 500 Free (5:03.48), Katia Alyabyeva was first in the 200 IM (2:05.69) and Wai Ting Yu captured the top spot in the 50 Free (23.86).<\/p>\n
The Panthers had several swimmers with second place finishes this evening also, those included freshman Allie Reynolds in the 500 Free (5:09.18), Jessica Cross in the 200 IM (2:10.78) and Tiffany Bell in the 50 Free (24.10)<\/p>\n
The DU women will continue action tomorrow in the final day of the DU Invite with session two starting at 9 a.m. and the final session three beginning at 4 p.m. at Breech Pool.<\/p>\n
The Drury University men's swimming and diving team is in second place with 231.5 points trailing leader Incarnate Word with 346 after opening day action of the Drury Invite Friday at Breech Pool.<\/p>\n
Nick McCarthy had Drury's highest finish of the evening with a second place in the 50 Free (21.29). Daniel Swietlicki and Mark Grijalva each took third place finishes for the Panthers, Swietlicki in the 200 IM (1:56.62) and Grijalva in the 500 Free (4:46.57). The DU men came in second place in both the 200 Free Relay (1:25.40) and the 400 Medley Relay (3:30.90).<\/p>\n
DU will look to chase down the Cardinals of Incarnate Word in first place entering tomorrow's sessions starting at 9 a.m. in the morning and a night session at Breech Pool set for 4 p.m. Missouri S&T sits third with 228 points and Washington (Mo.) University is in fourth with 131.5 points.<\/p>\n
