In last year\u2019s edition of the meet, the Iowa Hawkeyes emerged victories by winning 14 out of 16 total events and scoring 197 points, while Iowa State scored 101 points.<\/p>\n<p>This year the margin was much smaller with Iowa scoring 159.5 points to Iowa State\u2019s score of 121.5. This marks Iowa\u2019s eighth straight victory at this annual dual meet.<\/p>\n<p>The action in Ames started with the 200 medley relay where the Hawkeyes and Cyclones came in just .14 apart. Iowa\u2019s foursome ultimately took the win with a time of 1:42.06 while Iowa State touched second in 1:42.20.<\/p>\n<p>The Cyclones were able to produce a 1-2 finish in the 1,000 freestyle with the duo of <strong>Keely Soellner<\/strong> and <strong>Haley Ruegemer<\/strong> who each turned in 10:08.04 and 10:14.77, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa\u2019s <strong>Hannah Burvill<\/strong> stole the pool record in the 200 freestyle from Iowa State\u2019s <strong>Karyl Clarete<\/strong> with a 1:47.91, which dipped under the Clarete\u2019s old mark of 1:48.38, posted in 2013. Second place in the event went to Iowa State\u2019s <strong>Silqi Luo<\/strong> who swam a 1:50.03.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa State freshman <strong>Martha Haas<\/strong> was able to hold off Iowa senior <strong>Shea Hoyt<\/strong> in the 100 breaststroke by posting a 1:02.64 to Hoyt\u2019s 1:02.94. Hoyt did earn redemption in the 200 breaststroke by winning the event in a time of 2:14.22.<\/p>\n<p>Hawkeye\u00a0freshman <strong>Kelsey Drake<\/strong> swam her way to a victory in the 200 yard butterfly. Drake\u2019s 1:59.99 dips just under the 2:00 barrier and put her just ahead of fellow Hawkeye <strong>Tereysa Lehnertz<\/strong>\u00a0who\u00a0turned in a 2:01.49.\u00a0Iowa State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mary Kate Luddy\u00a0<\/strong>was third in the event tonight with a 2:01.81. Drake earned herself her second victory of the night in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.46 with Ruegemer touching second in 2:05.20.<\/p>\n<p>Another pool record was marked tonight with Iowa State\u2019s <strong>Laura Miksch<\/strong> matching the old record with a 23.06 in the 50 freestyle.
