REYKJAVIK, Iceland, November 14. EYGLO Osk Gustafsdottir, 16, and Inga Elin Cryer each downed a trio of Icelandic records at the Icelandic Short Course Nationals held in Reykjavik during the weekend. Meanwhile, quite a few other national records tumbled as well.<\/p>\n
Gustafsdottir became the first female in Icelandic history to clear 1:00 in the women's 100-meter back with a 59.81. That effort lowered her preliminary record of 1:01.75, which beat her previous record of 1:02.18 set last year. Notably, Ingibjorg Kristin Jonsdottir finished second, also under the record, with a 59.85. Jonsdottir returned later with a 27.49 to beat her own women's 50 back record of 27.91 in prelims, which also bettered the record heading into the meet of 28.11. She set that time in October this year.<\/p>\n
Gustafsdottir returned in the 200 back with a 2:08.00 for the distance dorsal victory. That performance demolished her previous record of 2:12.38 also from last year. She dropped a huge amount of time from her easy 2:16.61 during prelims to smash her old mark. <\/p>\n
Gustafsdottir downed the women's 200-meter IM record during prelims with a 2:15.22. That clocking edged the previous record of 2:15.32 set by Erla Dogg Haraldsdottir back in 2009. <\/p>\n
Inga Elin Cryer also set a trio of national records. She clocked an 8:46.42 in the women's 800 free, lowering the 8:46.47 record of Sigrun Bra Sverrisdottir from 2009. She also hit the wall in 2:16.72 in the women's 200 fly, lowering her effort of 2:17.97 set in June this year. Her third record came by way of the women's 400 free with a 4:15.09. That effort downed her own record of 4:15.13 set at the Faroes dual meet. <\/p>\n
