WITH the sixth of seven stops complete on the FINA World Cup circuit, Chad Le Clos and Therese Alshammar have mathematically clinched the overall men&#39;s and women&#39;s series titles, barring any surprise swims that could boost a swimmer&#39;s point totals.<\/p>\n<p>Since the opening meet in the United Arab Emirates, Le Clos of South Africa has been the series leader, and he ended the Beijing stop with 136 points. Hidemasa Sano of Japan, who had raced Le Clos on several occasions at previous World Cup meets, elected to not compete in Beijing and did not add to his 70 points amassed so far. Germany&#39;s Marco Koch added a few points in Beijing, raising his total to 56 points. <\/p>\n<p>Alshammar, the evergreen swimmer from Sweden, surged to the lead after Beijing with 95 points. Franklin maintains her second-place standing with 70 points, while China&#39;s Lu Ying moved up to third with 42 points.<\/p>\n<p>Le Clos and Alshammar are scheduled to be present in the Tokyo meet this weekend to accept their $100,000 bonuses for winning the overall series. Second place overall will receive $50,000, and third place gets a $30,000 bonus. Franklin will not be accepting any prize money in order to keep her collegiate eligibility. It&#39;s not clear what will happen to the money Franklin refuses.<\/p>\n<p>The Tokyo meet will also feature double points, but with the current leaders set to compete there, those looking to supplant Le Clos and Alshammar from the top spots would need wins in multiple events or keep them off the medal stand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/World\/28211.asp target=_blank>FINA Cash Winnings List<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 9.
