{"id":284987,"date":"2017-11-19T05:25:43","date_gmt":"2017-11-19T12:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=284987"},"modified":"2017-11-19T05:25:43","modified_gmt":"2017-11-19T12:25:43","slug":"zhuhao-li-lowers-wjr-in-100m-butterfly-in-singapore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/zhuhao-li-lowers-wjr-in-100m-butterfly-in-singapore\/","title":{"rendered":"Zhuhao Li Lowers WJR in 100m Butterfly in Singapore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the final night of the last stop on the 2017 FINA World Cup circuit, China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zhuhao Li<\/strong> broke the World Junior Record in the 100m butterfly, on his way to winning silver in the event behind Olympic gold medalist <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Li&#8217;s time was a 49.53, a full second under the old WJR, which had no name associated with the time. Technically, Li is the first WJR record holder in this event. This is because FINA\u00a0only began recognizing short course meter records in January of 2015, and when they did so, they set \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fina-short-course-world-junior-records\/\" target=\"_blank\">benchmarks<\/a>\u201d for times.<\/p>\n<p>Li was third at the 50m mark in a split time of 23.42.
