State&#8217;s <strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> earned the title of the fastest man in the 100 butterfly so far this season as he posted a 45.92 in the event, to secure himself as the only man to have gone under 46 seconds this year.<\/p>\n<p>In the first race of the evening, the 200 medley relay, the N.C. State women put together a 1:37.25 to win the race. Notre Dame was right behind in 1:38.43 while Kentucky took the third position in 1:38.90.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s race the Wolfpack took first and second with their A and B relays. The N.C. State A relay threw down a 1:23.53 while their B team was not far behind in 1:25.80. Third place went to Notre Dame in 1:26.67.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aliena Schimidtke<\/strong> took the 100 butterfly in 51.94, solidifying herself as the only swimmer to\u00a0swim under 53 seconds. In second place was <strong>Krista Duffield<\/strong> out of\u00a0N.C. State with her time of 53.38. <strong>Erin Sheehan<\/strong> from Notre Dame touched third in 53.47.<\/p>\n<p>N.C. State&#8217;s<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Held posted a nation-leading time in the men&#8217;s 100 butterfly on his way to victory in the event. Held&#8217;s 45.92 surpasses the old mark of 46.03 by Cal&#8217;s <strong>Justin Lynch<\/strong>. In second was Buckeye <strong>Michael Salanzer<\/strong> in 46.36. Right after his backstroke leg in the 200 medley relay, <strong>Andreas Valzaios<\/strong> earned third in 46.58.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the women&#8217;s 400 IM was <strong>Meg Bailey<\/strong> who turned in a time of 4:05.80. In the runner up position was Penn State&#8217;s <strong>Ally<\/strong> <strong>McHugh<\/strong> in 4:08.06, where she was closely followed by N.C. State&#8217;s <strong>Hannah Moore<\/strong> who swam a 4:08.74.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s race featured 500 freestyle champion from earlier in the meet, N.C. State&#8217;s <strong>Anton Ipsen<\/strong>, narrowly defeat Yale&#8217;s <strong>Kei Hyogo<\/strong> 3:44.28 to 3:44.73. Pittsburg&#8217;s <strong>Samy Helmbacher<\/strong> earned third with this time of 3:45.80.<\/p>\n<p>During a brief break in the main tank the divers took their turn on the boards. South Carolina&#8217;s <strong>Julia Vincent<\/strong> took the women&#8217;s 1-meter after her 3-meter victory from yesterday. Vincent&#8217;s total score was 3:12.70 while Pitt&#8217;s <strong>Meme Sharpe<\/strong> was in second with 288.85. Third place went to Buckeye <strong>Camryn McPherson<\/strong> with 281.05<\/p>\n<p>The men had the 3-meter competition today and in that we saw Kentucky junior <strong>Sebstian Masterton<\/strong> take the win with a score of 379.90 while Notre Dame&#8217;s <strong>Joe Coumos<\/strong> earned second with his score of 373.65. Thrid place went to Hector <strong>Garcia Boissier<\/strong> out of Penn State with 358.35.<\/p>\n<p>The action in the pool continued with the women&#8217;s 200 freestyle where we saw Kentucky&#8217;s <strong>Geena Freriks<\/strong> take the win in a time of 1:45.39. <strong>Abbie Dolan<\/strong> out of Notre Dame trailed Freriks by about a half second with ther 1:45.90. Third went to Kentucky&#8217;s <strong>Ali Galyer<\/strong> who turned in a 1:46.32.<\/p>\n<p>N.C. State&#8217;s <strong>Justin Ress<\/strong> took the top spot in the men&#8217;s 200 freestyle when he touched first in 1:33.92. <strong>Joshua Fleagle<\/strong> was second in 1:34.48 while <strong>Isaac Jones<\/strong> out of Kentucky touched third in a time of 1:35.50.<\/p>\n<p>The breaststrokers were next as the men and women each competed in the 100 distance. <strong>Bailiey Bonnett<\/strong> swam a 59.60 to take the win and mark herself as the only woman under the 1:00 barrier at the meet. Bonnett&#8217;s teammate <strong>Madison Winstead<\/strong> was second in 1:00.17. Pitt&#8217;s <strong>Lina Rathsack<\/strong> touched third in 1:00.48.<\/p>\n<p>Penn State&#8217;s <strong>Kaelen Freund<\/strong> was able to edge out the Wolfpack duo of <strong>Jacob Molacek<\/strong> and <strong>Daniel Graber<\/strong> by swimming a 53.26. Molacek and Graber were each under 54 seconds with a 53.69 and a 53.92, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 backstroke was up next in Columbus as the Kentucky Wildcats\u00a0picked up another win with <strong>Asia Seidt<\/strong> swimming a swift 51.17. N.C. State&#8217;s <strong>Elise Haan<\/strong> was the next closest in 52.04 while Notre Dame freshman <strong>Carly Quast<\/strong> turned in a 52.27 for third place.<\/p>\n<p>The N.C. State men completed a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 backstroke with <strong>Andreas Vazaios<\/strong>, <strong>Coleman Stewart<\/strong> and <strong>Hennessey Stuart<\/strong> turning in times of 45.63, 46.43 and 46.73 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky put assembled a winning team in the 800 freestyle relay who produced a 7:06.10 while the N.C. State Wolfpack touched second in 7:10.01. Notre Dame earned third with their time of 7:14.02.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s relays saw the Wolfpack beat out Kentucky by almost ten full seconds with their winning time of 6:19.60 while the Wildcats posted a 6:28.14.
